AYE AYE CHARLIE (best price 11-2) has been in good form over hurdles since joining Christian Williams and it’s interesting to see connections persevere with him over fences off an exploitable mark. He’s prone to making the odd mistake but would eat these for breakfast in his younger days. He duly obliged on his penultimate outing over hurdles under Jack Tudor and followed that up with a creditable second back there when last spotted. He’s dropped into a class four for the first time over fences in his career and, if able to keep the momentum going, the nine-year-old should be thereabouts at the very least.

GETAROUND (best price 5-2) was a three-time novice hurdler winner when trained by Ella Pickard and was successful at this track in 2019 when trashing Jeremy’s Pass so he should easily confirm his superiority over that rival again here and also ran well to finish fourth in last year’s Grade 2 Persian War at this venue so he clearly likes it around the Welsh venue. He wasn’t at his best when last seen but has recently joined Dan Skelton, who has made a bright start to the campaign and his runner has undergone wind surgery, too. He has the size and scope to advance his form in this sphere and even beat the 131-rated Ask A Honeybee on his penultimate outing so an opening mark of 134 looks attractive and he should be well prepared for his first crack at chasing by his new yard.
