NAIZAGAI (best price 9-4) wasn’t at his best at Kempton when last sighted but his second on chase debut could hardly have worked out any better given the first, third and fifth have all won since. In addition, all of those winners defied marks of 112 or more so the current mark of 109 about Fergal O’Briens’ charge is eminently workable. He’s filled the frame no fewer than ten times in his career and, although the only niggle would be the fact that he’s untested on ground this quick, it may actually benefit him and he should be thereabouts in a race that is lacking any strength in depth.

This is a good maiden hurdle for the grade and it will be interesting to see if SARVAN (best price 11-1) takes to hurdles at the first time of asking over hurdles. He was very useful on the flat and is a rare runner for George Scott in this sphere. He wasn’t at his best when last spotted on the level but the booking of Tom Scudamore catches the eye and, if his jumping passes the test at the first time of asking, he could easily exceed market expectations so is worth an each-way interest at a double-figure price with the potential to pose a serious threat.
