Steve Ryder is back with three tips for today's meetings, including two runners at Clonmel & one at Market Rasen.
13:20 Clonmel
The Philip Dempsey trained BROOMFIELDS JEREMY (best priced at 3-1) is a previous course and distance winner who should be able to win this following his respectable reappearance last month. The six-year-old won a rated novice hurdle at 13 lengths last season on heavy ground off a mark of 117 and despite now being 10lb higher, he did run well off that mark on his reappearance at Punchestown.
Broomfields Jeremy looked a big danger turning for home that day but he weakened late to finish 5th beaten 13 lengths on his first run for 240 days. I expect him to come on a lot for that run and he should prove hard to beat off the same mark.
13:40 Market Rasen
The Henry Daly stable is in good form currently with a 29% strike rate and CHILLI FILLI (best priced at 13-8) should hold strong claims of repeating her success in this race from last season. The eight-year-old has a really consistent profile over fences with form figures of 32112F61 with her sixth-placed effort coming in the inaugural running of the Mares’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival this season.
Chilli Filli won a listed Mares’ Chase at Perth on her final start last season defeating Zambella and despite having to concede a penalty to the likes of Casablanca Mix, Midnightreferendum and Organdi, I feel she should prove hard to beat if running to her rating of 142 on her reappearance.
14:25 Clonmel
Despite having to concede weight and race fitness to his three rivals, the six-year-old FAKIR D'OUDAIRIES (best priced at 11-8) still looked to be improving last season and should be able to win this on his reappearance. The Joseph O’Brien trained gelding beat Melon in a novice chase on his reappearance in 2019 before finishing 2nd to Notebook over 2 miles on his reappearance last season who is notoriously good fresh.
Fakir D’Oudairies finished 2nd behind Chacun Pour Soi at the Dublin Racing Festival before finishing 2nd to Allaho in the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival on his next start. He was an eleven length winner of the Grade 1 Melling Chase at Aintree before failing to get 3 miles in the Punchestown Gold Cup at the end of the season. The Willie Mullins pair of Easy Game and Royal Rendezvous are respected given their ratings of 161 but I feel Fakir D’Oudairies will be hard to beat on his reappearance.
