My Sister Sarah sets a very good standard but DRAGON BONES (best price 9-4) has won four of her five completed starts in this sphere and is open to more improvement. Ian Williams’ mare was a shade unlucky at Cheltenham last time in which she travelled the best in the race and, given her connections bypassed a previous engagement at Cheltenham in favour of this race, the six-year-old is fancied to give the favourite one or two problems at the business end.

GORTROE JOE (best price 11-4) wasn’t at his best at his beloved Market Rasen when last spotted but the form of his previous second there off today’s mark gives him excellent claims on these terms. He’ll find the ease in grade combined with the slightly shorter trip much to his liking and, with Liam Harrison claiming his valuable three-pounds, his likely trailblazing tactics might make him a tough cookie to crack for his in-form handler.

Kim Bailey’s INCA ROSE (best price 7-2) has finished runner-up in a pair of novice hurdles and, with the form of each event working out nicely, the six-year-old has an excellent chance to make a winning handicap debut under David Bass. He was only beaten by a horse who is now rated 140-plus on debut, in a bumper, and has mixed it with horses rated 130-plus in both his latest assignments. His debut effort indicates that he goes well fresh and his handicap debut mark of 117 looks extremely lenient on the balance of his form so there’s a lot to like about him here.
