LOTS OF LUCK (best price 8-1) only beat one home on his reappearance but returning to the scene of his dominant course-and-distance when last seen in this grade from only a pound lower mark, Kim Bailey’s charge looks viable each-way material. The eight-year-old has plenty of form on heavy ground and, although he’ll need to leave his seasonal debut behind him, he will appreciate the drop back to class-five company and could be the each-way value in a wide-open contest.

EAMON AN CNOIC (best price 16-1) was well-held back over hurdles last month but is undoubtedly the best of these when on a going day and could represent fair each-way value with a lot in his favour. David Pipe’s veteran has proved to be a lot better than this grade and chased home the 140-plus rated Grumpy Charley earlier this year on similar ground. A reproduction of that effort would surely bring him into the reckoning so therefore, he could be a lively player at a big price.

NATURAL HISTORY (best price 3-1) however, will find the ease in grade to his liking having been far from disgraced behind Tommy’s Oscar at Doncaster last time. He raced far too keenly that day but the form has worked out well, as the winner has followed-up since and he’s fourteen-pound lower than when sixth in the Grade Three Imperial Cup, for which he started favourite. This is a lot easier and, while he has not proved the most consistent over the past couple of seasons, he has shown on numerous occasions that he is capable of winning at this level.
