FIRST REVOLUTION (best price 4/1) looked a totally different character to the one seen previously when scoring readily over today’s C&D last time out and with that new-found confidence likely to still be burning bright with Martin Todhunter’s gelding, he’s fancied to copy and paste his performance from 21 days ago on his return to the Durham venue.

A largely frustrating performer ever since winning an Irish point for previous connections, a second wind operation was called upon in a bid to finally end his woes, and after a 166-day break, the son of Jeremy duly came up with the goods.

The feature of his display here last time was the way he travelled throughout, but this time, unlike several efforts before, he found the necessary requirements off the bridle. Hopefully, he can now build on that winning performance and string a few results together and despite the lurking presence of hat trick-seeking Gosuatri in the line-up, the eight-year-old is taken to more than hold his own.

GOOD EARTH (best price 6/1) ran extremely well against the track bias at Pontefract on his most recent start and now handed a much better draw from which to work with, Michael Herrington’s gelding can add to his fine win-to-run ratio on the turf.

One of the most noticeable features of the racing at the Yorkshire track in the early stages of the campaign – and quite a few meetings from last season – has been the distinct advantage towards the runners who have raced around the inside of the track. Anything, therefore, who raced out wide yet still managed to run well deserves upgrading and the son of Acclamation’s effort definitely falls into that category.

Despite being forced out into the cheap seats, he impressed with the way he stuck manfully stuck to the task behind track specialist, King Of Tonga, and with the form of the race working out well since (second and seventh won next time), his performance rates a good deal better than it appeared on the day.

Handed stall one today, he will obviously have to break well to take advantage of the inside fence, but providing he does and the first part of the race goes according to plan, there’s every chance he will be a position to strike at the business end.

Murau, like many similar sexy southern raiders before him, was always going to be a popular choice with the punters, but despite landing his C&D with a degree of ease here last time, preference is for COLINTON (best price 3/1) at the morning odds.

Unlike his main market rival, Katie Scott’s gelding has bags of experience to call upon over today’s track and with form figure here of 11411412, it’s highly unlikely he won’t run his race. Moreover, his time figures also read well compared to those of the favourite and even though he’s been beaten on two of his last three starts, the clock suggest his performance levels haven’t dipped either.

Indeed, his latest effort at Musselburgh deserves extra praise considering he spent half the race trying to run off the track (didn’t appreciate going right-handed) and now back at a course where he is clearly more familiar, the son of Red Jazz is expected to give his six rivals all the trouble they can handle.
