Morghom was impressive when making a winning debut over today’s course a month ago, but despite his persuasive claims and sexy profile, WHITEBEAM (best price 9-2) should in no way be underestimated and at the morning odds, Harry & Roger Charlton’s filly is fancied to cause an upset.

Racing the day before Marcus Tregoning’s colt recorded his sparkling display, the daughter of Caravaggio was involved in an above-average fillies contest won by Razeyna and with the figures from her race working out better in terms of overall times and backend sectionals, the disparity between the pair seems a little strange to say the least. Moreover, the form of the race has already begun to work out accordingly and, rather handily for her sake, she gets to cover any moves the favourite might make being drawn right next to him in stall 15. 

Michael Dods has enjoyed a very productive Dante meeting so far and CHALLET (best price 6-1) looks set to keep the ball rolling for the Denton handler at a track where he’s already tasted a far bit of success.

Victorious over a mile on his first attempt at the Knavesmire last July, the son of Clodovil showed his versatility by repeating the dose a month later over a furlong shorter and on each occasion a prominent ride from the front worked the trick. Undone by a combination of soft ground and not being able to dominate when third on his only other start here in October, the five-year-old returns to his old stomping ground courtesy of two solid runs under his belt and if breaking smartly from his favourable low draw, there’s every chance he will add to his impressive track stats.

KORKER (NAP) (best price 6-1) blew any chance he had of justifying favouritism at Sandown on his reappearance with a shoddy start, but providing lightning doesn’t strike twice, Karl Burke’s gelding has every chance of making amends over a track that has already seen him run well twice in the past.

Just touched off by Project Dante on his debut as a two-year-old here last season, the son of Dandy Man went on to score three times subsequently and even he couldn’t quite manage to add to his tally on two visits to today’s track, his latest effort when runner-up to Josies Kid deserves to be upgraded on account of unsuitable soft ground. Only fading in the dying strides after showing bright speed throughout, faster conditions and the minimum trip should see this speedy three-year-old a much more potent force, all he needs to do is hit the lids on terms.
