YAGOOD (NAP) (best price 5/2) really appreciated the step back up to two miles when only narrowly denied at Doncaster last time out and now heading back to a track that has served him well in the past, Joseph Parr’s gelding rates a strong choice in his bid to find the back of the net.

Sent off the 7-4 on Town Moor following a promising effort the time before on the all-weather, the son of Teofilo got going too late in his bid to land the gamble, but at the same time, he did more than enough to suggest his winning turn wasn’t too far away again. A cosy winner in fast time on his first visit to today’s track last year, the six-year-old was undone by a slow pace and two furlongs shorter when attempting to repeat the dose a month later, but at least it was another performance to point out how well he enjoys the galloping nature of Colwick Park. Likely to be given a patient ride, even more so with Jamie Spencer on board, the chestnut will need the breaks to come at the right time down the home straight, but providing they do, he’s more than capable of outrunning his opponents in the final half a mile.

MS EAGLETON (best price 7/2) ran a race full of promise on her debut at Leopardstown nine days ago and with just normal improvement, the daughter of Free Eagle is very likely to take high rank in this relatively modest maiden.

Sent off a wild outsider at the Dublin venue, Hilary McLoughlin’s filly never threatened to defy her position in the market, but she did do some really pleasing late work to finish on the coat tails of the main players and it was a performance from which a good, solid platform can be built around. Although she’s from a decent sprinting pedigree on the dam’s side, her effort suggested she should have little difficulty staying a mile and with a decent break from her low draw, she will hopefully give herself every chance of bettered her opening finishing position second time up.
