MR FAYEZ (best price 3/1) might be 0-11 but he’s shaped very well the last two times under Josephine Gordon off a revised mark and the drop back to five-furlongs for the first time since he was trained in Ireland could be what is needed to finally get his head in front. His best performance to date came over this trip on his second ever start when splitting two horses now rated 74 and 77 and given how keenly he can race, it’s highly likely Josephine will ride him aggressively over the minimum distance and play ‘catch-me-if-you-can.’ Off a career-low mark of 58 at this very low grade, from a good draw in stall one, he should go very close here.

Alistair Rawlinson and Mick Appleby team up with their only runner and ride on the card here in the shape of BONDI GIRL (best price 13/2) who produced a very good effort when third on stable debut at this course last week. She was only collared inside the final furlong having been prominent throughout so the drop back in trip should be more suitable which will help her last a bit longer. All of her best form has been under these conditions and she appears to have a very good chance of winning this event or, at the very least, reach the frame.

While this race is littered with last-time-out winners, CROESO CYMRAEG (best price 8/1) should take a bit of beating on return to the scene of her previous course-and-distance victory which came at around this time last year off only a pound lower mark. This course clearly plays to her strengths as her record at this venue now reads 2135 and her previous third in a class three event here reads solid form, as the winner, Pied Piper, and the second, Irish Legend, were rated 89 and 93 respectively going into that event. On that evidence, she’s nicely-treated off a mark of 79 here and if they go a good clip early doors, she should be seen to best effect which should be more than enough to see her extremely competitive here

ERNIE’S VALENTINE (best price 4/1) hasn’t done much wrong in his career and on the back of three wins from six starts last season, he’s put together two solid efforts in defeat, including an unlucky third at Newmarket when last spotted. He was held-up in rear but didn’t get the smoothest of passages and just when he began to look dangerous, he had the door slammed in his face. That said, he still kept on strongly all the way to finish to only be beaten a couple of lengths into third and has been left on the same mark here in this lower grade event. It has been evident how strongly he’s been in the latter stages of each race to date which suggests the step up in trip could unlucky further progression going forward. The first-time cheekpieces replace the blinkers and if he gets the splits when required, his finishing kick could be too much for these if he appreciates the extra yardage with Mohammed Tabti once again claiming his valuable seven-pounds.

SUPREME JET (best price 9/4) warmed up for this race with a spin on the Flat two weeks ago and with most of his form already working out strongly, he’s strongly fancied to double his tally over timber under Jack Foley. The six-year-old ran well in three hot bumpers behind the likes of My Mate Mozzie, Banbridge and Ramillies before only finding Eric Bloodaxe too strong on hurdles debut when a clear second. He could only finish fourth next time but conditions were heavy and he made it third time lucky when running his rival into submission at Punchestown, scoring by seventeen-lengths. His latest effort behind El Fabiolo when sixth at the Punchestown Festival was a good display considering he tried to do it the hard way from the front and only weakened out of contention inside the final furlong. That was a good-quality race for the grade and, with the likelihood of getting a soft lead, he has been found a winnable opportunity here under the assistance of the excellent Jack Foley.
