FABIOSA (best price 12/1) wouldn’t be the most standout choice for many given her inconsistency and having only won once in her career but she’s very well-treated on the pick of her form, especially from last year, where she showed good form in multiple Listed events. She found life afterwards off higher marks but she did show a glimmer of her earlier promise when a close-up fourth in a class three over six furlongs here on her penultimate start. Her latest effort can be excused as she fluffed the start and was badly hampered too and she’s been dropped a further couple of pounds to a career-low mark of 74. Based upon her earlier portfolio of work, she shouldn’t have any issue returning to the five furlong distance, as the last time she competed over it (on the turf) she bolted up in this grade. If she can get a clean break here, she has a good chance on these terms.

This race lacks strength in depth and a repeat of his latest second should see MACHO PRIDE (best price 13/2) go one better. He bounced back to form last time off his reduced mark when only beaten a neck and is seven-pounds lower than his last winning mark. His only previous start at this track saw him run very well to finish a half-a-length second off a mark of 73. He’s five-pounds lower on his return to the venue here and from a good draw in stall five to go forward in the early stages, Harrison Shaw might be able to judge the pace of the race before letting this prominent-racer set sail for home which could be enough to see him get his head in front.

ISLE OF LISMORE (best price 6/1) hasn’t threatened in three starts this year but he did, however, run well to finish a midfield fifth behind Twilight Calls at Newmarket on his penultimate start in a class three and will find this a tad easier off an even lower mark. He was third over course-and-distance off a mark of 89 around this time last year and has dropped to an eleven pound lower mark of 78 so he’s handicapped to strike if able to get back to something near his best and, with Hayley Turner doing the steering, he should be extremely competitive here.
