THE FOLKES TIARA (NAP) (best price 5/4) was agonisingly touched off at Killarney last time out but, with that run coming off an 81-day break and the strong possibility of him needing the run, Henry De Bromhead’s charge is fancied to strip fitter and make amends by going one place better.

A point winner for previous connections, the son of Shirocco shaped well on his first outing for his new stable in a maiden hurdle at Thurles and it was good to see him build on that initial effort last time. In what turned out to be a strongly run race at the Kerry venue, the six-year-old looked the winner for the majority of the 2m4f journey until having his pocket picked by the more experienced Auckland close home, and with the fourth horse home that day, The Gradual Slope, going on to advertise the form at Kilbeggan on Sunday, confidence is high this chasing type can follow suit.

SAFECRACKER (best price 9/4) might have failed in his bid to gain bragging rights over stable mate Mashhoor at The Curragh last time out, but he did manage to beat the rest by quite some margin, and a reproduction of the same level of form should see Johnny Murtagh’s gelding very competitive at a track where he has gone well in the past.

A bit disappointing the time before at Leopardstown, the son of Golden Horn was on a bit of a retrieval mission at the Co Kildare track and even though he didn’t manage to land the prize, there’s little doubt his performance had to go down as a career best effort. Unsurprisingly unable to match the winner’s turn of foot which was on-par with the likes of Brad The Brief and Native Trial from three furlongs out, he did, however, post his own useful set of numbers, both overall and sectionals, and having run well in another hot handicap over today’s course earlier in the campaign, the four-year-old deserves his place in the spotlight.

PALLASMORE LASS (best price 11/2) still remains a maiden after 13 starts, but she has finished an honourable runner-up on her last two starts over tonight’s C&D and she looks sure to go well again providing her draw in stall 24 is the place to be up the stands side fence.

A decent overall record since the blinkers were fitted, the daughter of Kodi Bear has taken her game to another level since racing at the Mallow track and having performed best of those drawn high here two starts ago, she proceeded to achieve the exact same feat in a similar race two weeks later. Looking the most likely winner 21 days ago until Shawaamekh came and dive-bombed here up the stands side rail, she did keep on well to finish an honourable second and with the speed figure of that performance superseding her previous effort, another strongly run affair should suit Gerard O’Leary’s filly more than most.
