Architect Tips is back with six tips for today's action.
The Dragon Stakes is an excellent opener and I really like ROCKET RODNEY (best price EVENS) who holds the advantage on the form of his second in the Windsor Castle, where he had Eddie’s Boy well held in third, and will find this task a lot easier. George Scott’s charge travelled best that day, as he was the last horse off the bridle, and was only beaten a neck by Little Big Bear. He fared much the best of those drawn high, so his performance can be markedly upgraded, as the low drawn numbers held much of the advantage on the straight course throughout the five day meeting. With much more to come, he’s confidently selected to go one better back down in class.
BURNING CASH (best price 7/1) produced a late burst of speed to score over course-and-distance just over three weeks ago and that was an excellent effort considering it was only his second start back after a year on the sidelines. He was a good two/three year old and ran a cracker when fourth in a Group Two here back in 2020 when not far behind both Sacred and Measure Of Magic. He’s only gone up a couple of pounds for his latest victory and Billy Garritty does the steering this time round. This is a deeper race then last time but he remains well-treated off his current mark and can go close to making two from three for the campaign.
DUKE OF VERONA (best price 4/1) has performed very well on both starts on the turf this year and shaped nicely over this trip last time when a staying-on third behind Songo at Salisbury. That was his first go at the distance and he’s a pound lower here which is lenient. Andrea Atzeni is an excellent jockey, who’s booked for the ride, and his mount should have more to come over this distance. His two previous wins have been on the all-weather, but he looks well-handicapped on the turf off this mark, as he beat an 88-rated rival in the latest of his victories. He rates the value play in this contest with a good chance of winning it too.
If HAYADH (best price 13/8) can’t win this moderate contest I’ll be shocked and I’m sure connections will be left deflated too. He’s not been at his best so far this year but was competing off marks in the high 80’s last year and in his last course-and-distance start, he was third off a mark of 82 in a class four event. He’s seven pounds lower in a class six now and this is the first time in his career that he’s seen in this grade too. He gets his ground and, in my opinion, should be a shorter priced favourite for this. Even if he’s not at his best again, he should still be too good for these under Sam James and can end his long losing streak in the process.
