Leg 1 Selections: Star Vantage

George Bewley has his team in great form of late with three winners and six placed from his last thirteen runners and his only runner on the card STAR VANTAGE has to merit consideration on hurdles debut. He has finished runner-up in two of his three bumpers, two of which were on decent ground and he ran very well behind subsequent winner Fenna’s Lass. He would have finished closer to the winner with a clear run and he looks the type to develop into a useful hurdler for connections with Conor O’Farrell booked to ride.

Leg 2 Selections: Catchmeifyoucan, Bintheredonethat

CATCHMEIFYOUCAN got back to winning ways last time and a 2Ib rise for that success does not look harsh, as she won this race very convincingly twelve months ago. She went close on her last visit here from a six pounds higher mark and, now that she’s in-form, she should make a bold bid to win this back-to-back. I’ll also add in BINTHEREDONETHAT, who saw off five rivals over course-and-distance last month and he should go well with Johnny Burke in the saddle again, who has his only ride today.

Leg 3 Selections: Idilico, Forever Reward

This is wide-open but IDILICO is only two pounds higher than when bolting up at Musselburgh back in February and ran well on his first go over this trip over track and trip last time when third. Given the form he’s in and this being a lot easier than when third in a better race than this two starts ago, he has to enter the reckoning here. FOREVER REWARD has finished second on both visits here, including over course-and-distance last time. He has to be feared with more to come under Daryl Jacob.

Leg 4 Selections: Calliope, Zamond

CALLIOPE isn’t the force she was, but she’s got a good solid record around this course and hasn’t been beaten far here the last two times either. She’s eighteen pounds below her last winning mark and could play a leading role if turned out quickly. If she’s declared a non-runner, it will automatically go onto the favourite which isn’t too bad either. ZAMOND is proving consistent lately and the form of his latest second has worked out really well. He’s dropped in grade off the exact same mark here, so he should be firmly in the mix despite this being fiercely competitive for the grade.

Leg 5 Selections: Lermoos Legend

The Bowen’s have done a wonderful job in getting the very best out of LERMOOS LEGEND over the last year and a half, in which he’s won five times and finished second twice in his last eight starts. The seven-year-old is two-from-two over track and trip and has beaten all of his rivals by a combination of thirteen lengths plus here, so he clearly likes it here. He should have won last time too in a higher-graded contest, where he gave away loads of ground by jumping to the right continuously and was only beaten a length when gaining on the eventual winner at the finish. He’s up another five pounds but is improving and is the one to beat.

Leg 6 Selections: Dee Star

DEE STAR wasn’t at his best here last weekend but he still nearly came close to winning and has an excellent record here with figures reading 14222323122. He remains on a career-high mark but the blinkers are refitted and I think he’s capable of producing another big performance if turned out here. Game Line is interesting back over hurdles and is feared most, while Canelo would outclass these if back to his best but he’s been well below-par for this stable in two starts and needs a revival. If Dee Star is declared a non-runner, this will automatically go onto the favourite, which will either be Game Line or Larry Looby.
