Leg 1 Selections: Fast Forward

A good race to start the action in which all three vying for favouritism were coincidentally behind Macuna last-time-out. However, the one I like out of three is Alan King’s FAST FORWARD, who ran a very good race to finish third on hurdles debut and is sure to have learnt a lot from that experience. I think this course, which is left-handed will see him in better light as most of his best Flat performances were going this way round and, off level weight against his two closest market rivals, he’s fancied to go close here.

Leg 2 Selections: The Big Sting, Gulliver Collonges

Harry Fry’s THE BIG STING made an encouraging start over fences when third at Worcester last month, where he travelled well before keeping on steadily at the same pace. The form of that race has been boosted by the winner since, so he should go well in this with improvement to come. GULLIVER COLLONGES received strong market support when winning very comfortably in this sphere at Warwick in May and while he’s been hit with a four pounds rise, he should have more to offer over three miles.

Leg 3 Selections: Onward Route

ONWARD ROUTE left the initial impression that he failed to stay two and a half miles last time when only third, so it’s no surprise to see him revert back to this trip here, which is a positive sign. Brian Hughes was in the saddle at Hexham when he won easily from the front by seven lengths and he would have won at Newcastle the time before too without falling at the second last when well clear. None of the remainder can boost comparable form, so under a positive ride, he can double his tally over timber.

Leg 4 Selections: Peaches And Cream, Go On Chez

PEACHES AND CREAM is a very strong stayer, who produced a career-best performance when last spotted and while he’s been hit with a huge fifteen pound rise for that success, a five pound claimer offsets some of his burden. He has to be fully respected. GO ON CHEZ though, is undefeated in his last five starts and won very nicely at Aintree last month by over eight lengths. This is a much tougher race, but he’s clearly improving with each start, and there’s a chance the assessor hasn’t caught up with him yet. He could complete the six-timer under Henry Brooke, who knows him very well too.

Leg 5 Selections: Some Day Soon, Wbee

Jamie Snowden’s SOME DAY SOON is the outsider of the field and while others arrive here with more appealing profiles, he’s too well-treated to ignore at present. He is seven pounds lower than when scoring easily at Stratford around this time last year and despite his two efforts this year being rather flat, he has the ability to go well if back to something near his best. WBEE made it six wins from his last seven starts two months ago at Cartmel and, considering he has a new career-high mark to overcome, he cannot be discounted as the seven-year-old just loves winning under Sean Bowen.

Leg 6 Selections: Hereditary Rule, Shetland Bus

The favourite, HEREDITARY RULE, will have to concede a lot of weight to this field but he’s two-from-four in this sphere and ran a very good race back in Ireland over hurdles last time. He has the scope to surpass this mark and is fancied to win again despite his weight. I fear SHETLAND BUS, who’s Richard Newland’s only runner on the card and while he was well beaten by Hang In There last-time-out, he has a small chance if he can put in a good round of jumping, which hasn’t been the case the last two times.
