Architect Tips continues his new daily Tote Placepot tips column with selections for the first six races at Chester.

Leg 1 Selections: Have Secret
The the Richard Fahey/Oisin Orr combination have been in great form of late and are fancied to take the opener with HAVE SECRET, who’s displayed promise in all three starts to date. He should be suited to the step up in distance and is drawn well in stall two. With lots more to come, he should be extremely competitive in the opening leg of today’s pool on the roodee.

Leg 2 Selections: Endeared
The James Fanshawe-trained ENDEARED has been well supported overnight and has made a positive start to his career in maidens at Doncaster, placing on both occasions, and the return to this trip looks a positive move. He is drawn well in stall one and has De Sousa in the saddle again too. This Group Two entry is the one to beat on the form available in leg two.

Leg 3 Selections: Judicial, Ebro River
JUDICIAL has been below his best the last the last twice and maybe age is starting to catch up with him, but with form figures of 11211 at this course and two wins in this race to his name, he simply cannot be discounted in his hat-trick bid. With conditions holding no fears, the ten-year-old looks poised to be in the shake-up. EBRO RIVER is the only Group 1 winner in the field and if today’s first-time headgear has a nice effect, he could be too good for these back if back to his best from an excellent draw in stall two. Any possible arrival of rain will not diminish the claims of these two strong fancies either.

Leg 4 Selections: Fools Rush In
FOOLS RUSH IN won twice at this track last year and while he’s not won in four starts this term, he went very close to beating Tacarib Bay last time when beaten a short-head. The winner has boosted the form since with a good second at Ascot next time and Hugo Palmer’s course specialist has Harry Davies back in the saddle taking off five pounds. Weighted to reverse previous form with Red Mirage, he can go well back down in grade for leg four.

Leg 5 Selections: Cold Case, Rogue Spirit
Karl Burke’s COLD CASE made a highly-promising debut behind Carmela at Carlisle when beaten just a neck and duly went one better at York next time when sent off a warm favourite. He makes lots of appeal with more to come. Tom Clover’s ROGUE SPIRIT ran a great race when third in the Super Sprint at Newbury and, given how much natural pace he has and being drawn nicely in stall two, he could be very hard to catch if given a soft lead here in leg five.

Leg 6 Selections: Mythical, Zeelandia
MYTHICAL hasn’t really shown much in three starts for Simon Whittaker but he’s undeniably well-treated on his past Irish form, in which he was rated as high as 104 and even contested the Epsom Derby two years ago. Stall ten isn’t ideal, but he’s fallen to a dangerous mark and if he can take any sort of step forward from his latest effort at Ripon, he could get involved. I also like ZEELANDIA, who did extremely well to make a winning British/stable debut at York when beating Throne Hall. A five pounds rise seems very fair and, with Ian Williams’ team in great form, he’s a big player.
