Architect Tips continues his new daily Tote Placepot tips column with selections for the first six races at Haydock.

Leg 1 Selections: Billy Roberts, Sameem
BILLY ROBERTS has gone well over track and trip on multiple occasions and arrives here on the back of three seconds, including over course-and-distance last time off this mark. He is vulnerable to most of his younger rivals but his consistency should carry him a long way in this. SAMEEM is hardly confident to win this but he’s well-treated on past exploits and should be more than able to reach the frame.

Leg 2 Selections: Zim Baby
Mick Appleby’s ZIM BABY rates quite a confident choice in this sprint contest. She’s not been at her best of late but she’s back down to her last winning mark and that form is the best on display in this race given she gave weight and a beating to subsequent Royal Ascot winner Inver Park. She also placed multiple times last year off higher marks and her fourth at Bath in a Listed event reads good form. If she can recapture her best, she has more than enough ability within her inventory to beat these and her official mark (seven pounds clear of her rivals) supports that claim too.

Leg 3 Selections: Batemans Bay
BATEMANS BAY shaped with a lot of promise when fifth or 10 on debut two weeks ago and this son of New Bay should relish the long home-straight at this course. This race is littered with interesting newcomers but Ralph Beckett’s charge has the experience under his belt and, from a nice slot in stall 1, Hector Crouch should be able to get him rolling early and make an impact in the latter stages with more to come in leg three.

Leg 4 Selections: Venetian, Westerton
Charlie and Mark Johnson’s VENETIAN made a promising start to his career when beaten just a neck on debut and while he failed to justify favouritism at Redcar next time, he’s worth another chance. WESTERTON showed plenty when fourth of 10 on debut, when doing all of his best work in the closing stages, and represents a trainer who is no stranger to success with youngsters. He could play a leading role here with Martin Harley in the saddle.

Leg 5 Selections: Gold Aura
Leg five is an ordinary maiden fillies’ event and the favourite looks solid. Richard Hannon’s GOLD AURA fared much the best of the newcomers when third on debut at Newbury, keeping on nicely under a hands-and-heels ride and is sure to progress with that outing under her belt. This daughter of Golden Horn will get further in due course but, on the form available, she’s the one to beat.

Leg 6 Selections: Bungley, Boasted
BUNGLEY went close off this mark last week at Beverley when second and that’s now the third time she’s filled that spot this term. Her connections have reached for the headgear this time, which could help, and if it does then she could get her in front. BOASTED wasn’t beaten far last time when fourth and the form of her debut fifth looks seriously strong, as the third Eydon finished fourth in the 2,000 Guineas when last spotted. She’s a massive player on handicap debut off 62 here.
