Leg 1 Selections: Glorious Angel, Gifted Angel

GLORIOUS ANGEL wasn’t disgraced in a class-two event last time when sixth and drops down markedly in grade here. Hugo Palmer’s filly went close on her penultimate start in this grade over five furlongs and should have a lot more to come over six. GIFTED ANGEL found things happening too quickly last time over five and he should produce a better performance back over his optimum distance in leg one.

Leg 2 Selections: Red Fort, The Goat

This maiden event could prove informative. Fox Island might be the stable's first-string but debutant and stablemate RED FORT might offer better value. He has a nice pedigree and Dane O’Neill has interestingly been booked to ride, so he cannot be discounted. THE GOAT is a son of the high-class Cracksman and is related to Breeders’ Cup winner Blame. He is an interesting participant for the Andrew Balding team.

Leg 3 Selections: Gordon’s Aura, Mukha Magic

GORDONS AURA ran a very good race when third on handicap debut at Yarmouth last time despite returning a beaten favourite. He gets a lot of weight from the remainder and the visor will be fitted here. He should be able to make a big impact in this race. MUKHA MAGIC bolted up over two-miles here recently and despite going up eight-pounds, Gay Kelleway's charge is clearly in good form and has an excellent record over staying’ distances too.

Leg 4 Selections: Korker

KORKER clearly saves his best for York and was a credible third to bright prospect Royal Aclaim last time in a Listed event, but he’s rated clear of these on 104 and brings the best form to the table. Karl Burke’s charge is a habitual slow-starter, which has cost him on more than one occasion, but his record in class three events or lower reads 21121 and he gets on very well with Clifford Lee. If he translates his York form to this course with conditions perfect, alongside a better start, he should have too much class for these.

Leg 5 Selections: Final Account

The Richard Fahey-trained FINAL ACCOUNT was unsuited by the drop in distance last time, but still ran to finish fourth, where he did all of his best work in the closing stages without being able to make an impact. He went very close over this trip on his penultimate start at Ayr when third and remains well-treated based on the pick of last year’s form against mostly higher-rated opponents. With plenty in his favour, Tony Hamilton might be able to guide him to success in a race that won’t take a lot of winning for leg five.

Leg 6 Selections: Gert Lush

GERT LUSH looks the way to go in leg six. She ran her best race of the campaign when third off this mark at Newbury last time and that form has been positively advertised by the runner-up Pledge Of Honour who has completed a double since off marks in the 70’s. Roger Teal’s five-year-old will take a drop in grade here and ran well to finish second over course-and-distance off a six-pounds higher mark last year. With all positives covering her chances, she has been found to have an excellent chance to regain the winning thread off a mark that’s five-pounds lower than when last successful.
