Steve Ryder is back with three tip's from today's action.
16:00 Wolverhampton
The Mick Appleby trained Dew You Believe (best priced at 18/5) won over this course and distance 19 days ago and he should hold strong claims off an 8lb higher mark. The four-year-old has only won twice in his career but both have been over this course and distance so he looks worth backing at this venue.
Dew You Believe has won off marks of 47 and 46 in the past so this career high mark of 54 will be a stretch but he looks worth taking a chance that the cheekpieces have brought about some improvement in him. Theodore Ladd rode him well to win by 2 ¼ lengths last time despite his odds of 25/1 and I expect him to run well again despite his 8lb rise.
17:20 York
Rogue Spirit (best priced at 11/1) has run consistently well on all five of his career starts and he looks worth backing on his handicap debut. The Tom Clover trained gelding won on his debut at Beverley before finishing a close 2nd on his next start. He defied a penalty to win by three lengths at Wolverhampton before finishing a close 3rd in the Super Sprint at Newbury. The winner Eddie’s Boy is rated 99, the second Woolhampton is now rated 91 and the fourth Looking For Lynda is now rated 90 so Rogue Spirit looks well handicapped off an opening mark of 89.
Rogue Spirit finished a close 3rd last time at Chester on his first start over 6f and connections have booked the talented 7lb claimer Connor Planas for the ride which is a huge positive. Bookmakers are offering up to six places on the race and I expect him to outrun his odds.
19:20 Kempton
The Simon & Ed Crisford trained Kaatibb (best priced at 11/8) had the form of his penultimate run boosted yesterday and it makes a mark of 81 look potentially lenient. The three-year-old has progressed with each start this season with him getting off the mark last time at Lingfield by a neck off a mark of 78. His penultimate run was at Ripon in a maiden where he pushed Glam De Vega to within a length with the pair pulling 15 lengths clear of the third. That rival boosted the form yesterday by winning easily at Hamilton on his handicap debut off a mark of 83.
That makes this mark of 81 for Kaatibb look well within reach and it is only 3lbs higher than his victory at Lingfield last time which put his AW record to one win and one place from two runs.
