Leg 1 Selections: Presentandcounting, Longstone Cowboy

The opener should easily go the way of the Donald McCain-trained PRESENTANDCOUNTING, who has won two of his last three starts over hurdles and connections have found him another good opportunity to win again under Brian Hughes. If a mishap occurs, which is unlikely, LONGSTONE COWBOY might be the one to capitalise. He showed useful form in Irish points and is of some interest on rules debut.

Leg 2 Selections: Follow Your Fire

This is a pretty weak event and it would come as no surprise to see FOLLOW YOUR FIRE go well at double-figure odds. He is the only course-and-distance winner in the field, which will count for plenty, and his win here was off 95, four-pounds higher than today’s mark of 91. Reunited with Sean Quinlan, who has ridden him to all four career victories, he makes lots of appeal in this race and is overpriced in my view.

Leg 3 Selections: Finisk River, Presenting Pete

FINISK RIVER has looked back to his best since the headgear has been enlisted and ran well again when second at Perth last time. He should go close in this field given the form he’s in at the moment. PRESENTING PETE couldn’t land the hat-trick at Worcester when last spotted but still ran well enough to suggest he’s still in form and despite going back up in grade, he should remain competitive here in this tricky four runner contest in which all four can be given a chance.

Leg 4 Selections: Cawthorne

CAWTHORNE is at the top of his game at the moment, where he’s returned from a layoff to win three times in a row, most recently winning by twelve lengths over hurdles last month. He also has a course-and-distance victory under his belt, so there is a lot to like about his chances, as he clearly hasn’t finished improving. He should make a bold bid to potentially make it four-from-four for the year.

Leg 5 Selections: Larusso

The fifth leg can confidently go to the consistent LARUSSO, who has a lot of pace and this five-year-old should be well suited to this course, as he’s likely to be ridden up with the pace under his regular rider, or may even try to dictate matters. He’s yet to win for Stuart Edmunds, but he pulled well clear with an odds-on favourite when last spotted and a repeat performance should suffice in this much easier race with more to come.

Leg 6 Selections: Kauto D’Amour, Larry Looby

Sue Smith’s KAUTO D’AMOUR ran his best race over fences last time when runner-up off a three-pounds lower mark and, if he can jump a bit better on this occasion, he may go one better. LARRY LOOBY has won his last three starts though, and while he’s gone up nine-pounds since last time, the manner in which he won last time indicates another bold effort will be expected. He is feared most in leg six here.
