Leg 1 Selections: Ndaawi

Andrew Balding’s NDAAWI brings the best piece of form to the table of those with experience in leg one, courtesy of his third on debut behind a couple of Charlie Appleby-trained runners. That form should prove informative in due course and therefore it will take a good one to beat him in this race with lots more to come under the in-form William Buick.

Leg 2 Selections: Fivethousandtoone 

FIVETHOUSANDTOONE has gone a long time without success but he’s been thereabouts the last two times and the return to this trip could see him return to the winner’s enclosure in leg two. He came close to beating Run To Freedom on his penultimate start at Salisbury and a reproduction of that performance with William Buick in the saddle should Andrew Balding’s charge go close here off a mark that’s well within his capabilities if able to put it all together.

Leg 3 Selections: Just A Tad, Bazalgette

JUST A TAD won back-to-back events in recent months and while she couldn’t land the hat-trick at Newmarket last time, this race is a lot easier and she could resume winning ways. Her main danger is probably BAZALGETTE, who’s been reasonably consistent in defeat in all four starts this year and, off the same mark as when second at Brighton, he’s a player.

Leg 4 Selections: Falling Shadow 

FALLING SHADOW was an impressive winner on his reappearance and shaped very well when seventh in the Golden Gate at Royal Ascot. He lost little in defeat when runner-up to Night Of Luxury last time when giving the winner weight as the front pair pulled clear of the remainder. A similar performance in this race could see him make it three wins from just starts for the boys in blue under the guidance of William Buick, who has an excellent book of rides again here.

Leg 5 Selections: Happy Power

HAPPY POWER is much the best of these and ran a cracker when fourth in the Group Two Lennox Stakes over course-and-distance last time. He isn’t the most consistent but Andrew Balding’s charge brings some quality form to the table and gets his favoured conditions. William Buick is booked to ride and, if he can run to his best, in which he’s the highest rated runner in the field, he could have too much for Double Or Bubble at a track that plays to his strengths.

Leg 6 Selections: Peripatetic 

Just the three runners for leg six but PERIPATETIC is taken to beat her two rivals here and give Buick another winner. Her form is working out well, particularly her third at Salisbury when just behind Rousay, who’s won a Listed event since, and this filly wasn’t disgraced when runner-up to Sea On Time when last spotted. She might be able to dictate matters in this small-field scenario and she looks more than capable of beating Speak, who needs more to beat this daughter of Ulysses.
