Hopefully the eight runners all remain in the Flying Childers Stakes as CRISPY CAT (best priced at 8/1) would rate a value selection with three places available. The Michael O’Callaghan trained colt is one of the more experienced juveniles in this field having run six times and he has shown form good enough to win this. He pushed Blackbeard to within a short head at the Curragh earlier this season before getting hampered in the Norfolk Stakes when 3rd behind The Ridler.

Crispy Cat has disappointed on his next two starts when upped in trip to 6f but in both of those contests his weakest furlong was the last and I think he is worth taking a chance on back over 5f despite having to concede weight to two talented fillies.

The Willie McCreery trained INSINUENDO (best priced at 6/1) was a selection earlier on her previous run in the Royal Whip Stakes and that form received a notable boost yesterday with Luxembourg winning the Irish Champion Stakes. The five-year-old won a Group 2 over 1m1f here last season before finishing only 3 ½ lengths behind La Pepite Coco and Love in the Blandford Stakes on her final start last season over this course and distance.

Insinuendo pushed 1000 Guineas winner Mother Earth to within ¾ length on her reappearance at this course over a mile in a Group 3 off level weights shaping like the step back up in trip to 1m2f would suit. It did indeed and she pushed Luxembourg to within a neck with the pair pulling 4 ¼ lengths clear of the third. She has to reverse form with La Pepite Coco from this race last season but I would much prefer to back her each way than the favourite at a short price.

Insinuendo - 0.5pts e/w @ 6/1

The final classic of the season looks at the mercy of NEW LONDON (NAP) (best priced at 6/5) who bids to give Godolphin, Charlie Appleby and William Buick back to back victories in the race following the victory of Hurricane Lane last season. The colt is 4/5 in his career with his only defeat coming when not handling the track at Chester earlier this season. He has since won impressively at Newmarket in a handicap before winning the Gordon Stakes at Goodwood last time in a race that is working out well. The second Deauville Legend won the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes by 2 ¾ lengths on his next start and the third Hoo Ya Mal won the Group 3 March Stakes by 2 ½ lengths on his next start.

This step up to 1m6f shouldn’t inconvenience New London and I expect him to justify favouritism in this race.
