Leg 1 Selections: Getthepot

GETTHEPOT was decent over hurdles but has taken his form up another notch since being switched to the larger obstacles, in which he won on chase debut before hitting the frame on his next three starts. His form is working out well given his third here on his penultimate start has been boosted by the runner-up Judge Earl since, who’s won four times and was last seen defying a mark of 100. He is a big player in a race that is lacking strength in depth.

Leg 2 Selections: Skatman, Punxsutawney Phil

SKATMAN achieved a useful level of form over hurdles and made the perfect chase debut at Newton Abbot, where he jumped mostly well before easing to a facile success. He should have enough speed to cope with the drop back in distance and is expected to feature in the outcome here. PUNXSUTAWNEY PHIL put it all together when winning at the third time of asking over fences three weeks ago and while he’s gone up two-pounds, he should appreciate the step up in distance and is feared most here.

Leg 3 Selections: Global Citizen, Clear The Runway

GLOBAL CITIZEN is a smart front-running chaser and hurdler at his best and was last seen winning the Grand Annual at the Cheltenham Festival. He’s seven-pounds higher on his return to action here but his stable are in great form and he’ll be fine on the better ground too. He could be hard to pass if getting into his usual nice rhythm on the front-end here before a tilt at next month’s Grand National in the US. CLEAR THE RUNWAY has won his last four starts and won with more in hand the winning margin indicated last time. He cannot be taken lightly with more to come.

Leg 4 Selections: Glen Cannel, Dreams Of Fortune

GLEN CANNEL is related to some very nice types and makes his stable debut here for a stable who have an impressive strike-rate in bumpers. He appeals a lot on paper and could go close with Brian Hughes booked for the ride too. DREAMS OF FORTUNE is an interesting newcomer for the Bowen team and while his future clearly will be over fences, he could get involved if ready for the first task in hand here.

Leg 5 Selections: Donnie Azoff

DONNIE AZOFF made the frame in all three starts in bumpers and although he was well-held on hurdles debut, he was a bit unlucky not to win last-time-out when runner-up at Stratford. He looked as though he was going to win until an untidy jump at the last hurdle checked his momentum, which ultimately cost him the race. Winterwatch and King Ottaker jumped poorly last time, so this is a good chance for Jamie Snowden’s charge to make the most of this excellent opportunity.

Leg 6 Selections: Ladykiller

The David Pipe-trained LADYKILLER was off the mark earlier this month, where he travelled and jumped well before winning with quite a bit in hand in the closing stages. He had to shoulder a penalty on this occasion but he’s going the right way and should have a lot more to offer. He should be more than able to get himself into the frame at the very least here in leg six.
