It is very difficult to look past Vertem Futurity entry ARREST in this contest having displayed a willing attitude to get off the mark at Sandown last month. The form of his debut third at that track reads very well also, with the winner, Nostrum, scoring in a Group 3 at Newmarket last Thursday. Sea Of Roses appeals most of the newcomers, being a half-sister to the smart Desert Icon, while Star cannot be ruled out either.

Course winner Chifa has been running well of late and makes more appeal than most, while Regulator will be a danger to all if taking up this engagement. Preference, however, is for MOUNTAIN ASH, who may be winless since last May, but has gone close on a few occasions this season, including over C&D last month. Not far behind him on that occasion was Itsallaboutluck, who is another to note for a trainer who continues in excellent form.

This isn't an easy task for WISPER under top weight, but she is admirably consistent and her suitability to the trip, combined with proven versatility regarding the state of the ground, still makes her the most appealing option. She wasn't beaten far off this mark at Epsom last month and the return to a more conventional track is unlikely to be an issue. Zambezi Magic is 6lb above his latest winning mark, but may do better now dropped in trip. Royal Thunder is relatively unexposed and is another to scrutinise in the betting.

Ange De L'amour is respected as she drops in class after running in a Group 3 at Salisbury at the beginning of the month, while Zephina has to be of interest following her recent victory at Wolverhampton. Preference, though, is for the improving KING'S GEM. The selection is on a very workable mark for his handicap debut and his previous C&D experience is a very useful tool to draw upon.

TREACHEROUS was not disgraced on his latest run at Goodwood and he is capable of better on the evidence of his second at Doncaster the time before. Musical Mystery has been fairly consistent of late and seems a threat if continuing in a similar vein of form, while the class-dropping Dora Penny is likely to enter calculations following her winning spree during the summer.

In a fairly open contest, a chance can be taken with the Malcolm Saunders-trained SOWS, who drops in class following a disappointing run over half a furlong further at Brighton last month. She finished a good third in a competitive Goodwood handicap three starts ago and is now rated 6lb lower. Ooh Is It makes his return to turf and is feared most ahead of Some Nightmare.
