Steve Ryder shares his Tote Placepot tips for today's racing at Windsor.

Leg 1 Selections: Libra Tiger
The most unexposed runner in this field is LIBRA TIGER and the David Menuisier trained three-year-old looks sure to go well on his handicap debut. The gelding ran well on both of his two starts as a juvenile before disappointing last time at Wolverhampton following a 158 day break. He was hampered that day early on in the race before receiving an eyecatching ride from Jamie Spencer. He makes his handicap debut off a mark of 74 and I expect him to run well in a first time hood dropped back down to 6f.

Leg 2 Selections - Kerdos
The Clive Cox trained KERDOS won on his debut at Haydock and he should hold strong claims of following up under a penalty. The son of Profitable showed a good attitude to beat a more experienced favourite by ½ length and he should be able to cope with a 7lb penalty.

Leg 4 Selections - Oblong Song & Dame Ethel Smyth
The well bred DAME ETHEL SMYTH stepped up from her first two efforts to finish a close 2nd on her previous start at Yarmouth and she looks well handicapped off an opening mark of 76. The John & Thady Gosden owned filly finished 4th on her first two starts at Windsor and Goodwood before finishing only a head behind the 80 rated Pawapuri at Yarmouth. Her 79 rated stablemate Wonderful Times finished a place behind her in 3rd with the well-bred joint favourite Modaara a further head back in fourth. Dame Ethel Smyth makes her handicap debut off a mark of 76 and she looks well treated if she can replicate her run last time.
The Roger Varian trained OBLONG SONG is another who is making her handicap debut in this race and she should be involved in the finish following a 116 day break. She finished a short head 2nd on her second start at Nottingham before finishing 6th behind Emily Upjohn in a strong Sandown novice race on her next start. She finished 3rd at Chelmsford on her next start and I expect her to improve on that effort following a break on her handicap debut.

Leg 5 Selections - Tartan Chief
The Paul & Oliver Cole stable are in good form currently with a 44% strike rate in the last two weeks and the consistent TARTAN CHIEF should run well once again in this race. The son of Dark Angel has won twice and placed a further seven times in his twelve career starts and he comes into this race following a good run in the Apprentices’ Derby at Epsom. He finished 3rd off a mark of 82 that day and he should run well once again off the same mark in first time cheekpieces.

Leg 6 Selections - Firth Of Clyde
The 81 rated FIRTH OF CLYDE won’t get many better opportunities to get off the mark and the consistent gelding should once again be involved in the finish. It is disappointing that he has been a beaten favourite on his previous five starts when he has finished 2nd each time but he looks sure to be involved in the finish once again. As previously stated, the Paul & Oliver Cole stable are in brilliant form currently operating at a 44% strike rate and he can hopefully get off the mark at the seventh attempt.
