Leg 1 Selections: Our Champ
OUR CHAMP is the most interesting runner in the opener and could be worth an interest on his hurdles debut. He shaped with lots of ability and promise when a close-up fourth in an Irish bumper for his former handler on his only previous start and has since joined a shrewd yard ahead of his debut in this sphere. He is Paul Henderson’s only runner of the day too, while Tom O’Brien has his only ride on the card as well. If his jumping passes the test, he could be a major force in this wide-open race.

Leg 2 Selections: Notnow Seamus
NOTNOW SEAMUS is currently the outsider of the field but he shouldn’t be if the form-book is anything to go by here. He ran well from the front when last spotted and is now rated 11 pounds lower than this time last year. He’s 34 pounds below his last winning mark, which came over hurdles, so if he can put it all together in this sphere, with Tom Bellamy booked to ride, he could make an impact. His trainer also boasts an impressive 33% strike-rate at the course and this veteran is his only runner on the card.

Leg 3 Selections: Martin Spirit
MARTIN SPIRIT displayed some good form when trained in France and ran his best race for his present stable when second in first-time cheekpieces/refitted tongue strap last time. It’s interesting to see connections leave all of that headgear off this time round and Jamie Moore has been retained for the ride too. Despite still remaining winless, alongside a four months plus absence to overcome, the five-year-old has a fair chance off what is an attractive mark.

Leg 4 Selections: Pasvolsky
PASVOLSKY only won a match-race over C&D back in December but he jumped really well that day and although he’s been well-held in both starts since, it’s highly likely he’s benefitted from the break since. All of his rivals have more experience than him in this sphere but he’s likely to be given an attacking ride from Tom Cannon, which suited him when beating Burrows Edge here previously, and if that’s the case, he should go very well again here.

Leg 5 Selections: Mark Of Gold
Jamie Moore runs two in this with preference for MARK OF GOLD, who is Jamie Moore’s preferred choice. Already twice a winner over C&D, he could only manage fifth in the Sussex Champion Hurdle when last spotted but he looks well-treated in this easier race and a break will have done him the world of good. Given his course form and knowing his stable won this twelve months ago, he makes plenty of appeal here.

Leg 6 Selections: Blade Runner
Chris Gordon could hardly have his team in better order and BLADE RUNNER is fancied to land the hat-trick over fences. He’s won both starts in this sphere over C&D, winning both by a combined twenty lengthens, and while that race lacked any sort of strength in depth, so does this one. Despite making his reappearance, he should prove difficult to beat. Art Of Illusion can chase him home.
