The Kayley Woollacott-trained CASPERS COURT (best price 4/1) is generally consistent in this sphere and having narrowly prevailed on his penultimate start, he ran really well when third last time behind much higher-rated opponents in a class four event last time and that form has worked out very well. He has also won over course-and-distance off a higher mark in the past, so connections have found him a good opportunity to regain the winning thread here back down in grade.

Kim Bailey’s SHANTOU EXPRESS (NAP) (best price 11/4) only managed to get as far as the first fence on his return at Kelso at the beginning of this month but the seven-year-old’s sole previous visit here resulted with success, winning by 23 lengths, and he remains on the same mark as when last successful over hurdles. He won by 10 lengths in that latter race mentioned, so he’s undeniably well-handicapped in this sphere if he can put it all together. If everything falls into place, David Bass could guide him to a much-deserved success over fences here. He’s capable of winning a race of this calibre on his day.
