Leg 1 Selections: Charles St, Forward Flight
CHARLES ST was pretty decent on the Flat and has since joined a yard who can get one ready on hurdles debut. If he puts in a fluent round of jumping, which is highly possible, he could go very well here. FORWARD FLIGHT won on the Flat back in May and although his form in that sphere tailed off afterwards, he remains a horse with potential and could go well for the Alan King team in the opener.

Leg 2 Selections: Egbert
EGBERT showcased some solid form in a pair of bumpers, making the frame at Hereford on debut before a head second at Market Rasen last-time-out. The form of his debut third though reads well as the second, Lallygag, won in a canter at Exeter on hurdles debut. Alan King’s five-year-old appeals as the type to develop into a useful hurdler this term and this course alongside the step up in trip should suit based on his pedigree. He put in a strong finish on debut having come from off the pace and was mugged in the closing stages last time. With better days ahead, he could play a leading role at decent odds here.

Leg 3 Selections: West Cork
This is a quality race despite just the four runners and I fancy WEST CORK to make a successful chase debut here. He was the highest rated of the quartet over hurdles and regularly held his form well in high-class handicaps last season. He returned from a near nine month absence to win a competitive renewal of the Greatwood Hurdle so fitness will be no issue on his return and his placed efforts in both the County Hurdle and Scottish Champion Hurdle are other good pieces of form too. He also won his only point, so there’s every chance he’ll be an even better chaser and is fancied to see off his three rivals here.

Leg 4 Selections: Opening Bid
OPENING BID won this race twelve months ago off a nine pounds higher mark off top-weight and essentially returned to form at the right time when second over course-and-distance last time. He gets into this year's renewal off a much lower weight than last year, so he’s got plenty of positives within his credentials and must have an excellent chance of winning this race for a second consecutive year.

Leg 5 Selections: Fairlawn Flyer
FAIRLAWN FLYER has won all three starts over fences and impressed when scoring by ten lengths on his last start. He’s gone up eleven pounds for that victory he’s clearly thriving and this mark might not prove to be the ceiling of his ability. He would probably prefer softer ground but he’s on an upward curve or form and could remain unbeaten with more to offer.

Leg 6 Selections: South Terrace
SOUTH TERRACE showed some smart form over hurdles last term, including when beating a good field in a class two event at Uttoxeter. He was sidelined for a year after a creditable third on his penultimate start over hurdles and while he didn’t show much on his return, he’ll strip fitter for the reappearance and could go well on his chase debut here. A five pounds claimer has been booked to ride too.
