Leg 1 Selections: Mullaghmore Wave, Native Fighter
MULLAGHMORE WAVE won back-to-back events between July and August and wasn’t disgraced in her hat-trick bid at Cheltenham on her next start. She disappointed on her return last time but should strip fitter and is likely to go well here, while NATIVE FIGHTER is normally seen in stronger events than this race and is eleven pounds below his last winning mark. He’s one to consider dropped in grade here.

Leg 2 Selections: Noble Anthem
NOBLE ANTHEM is two from-six on the Flat and his trainer has an excellent strike-rate with his hurdle debutants. He was the highest rated of these on the level and Sam Twiston-Davies has been booked to ride. If he can translate his Flat ability to this sphere, he could have too much natural pace and class for market rival My Brother Jack, who was rated far lower than the former on the Flat.

Leg 3 Selections: Harel De Marais
HAREL DE MARAIS has yet to win in six starts over hurdles but his penultimate second has worked out well and his latest sixth when not given a hard time of things was an encouraging effort too. Stuart Crawford's charge remains open to improvement and should take plenty of beating here. Of the rest, hurdling debutant General Officer is of interest but might find his more experienced rival too strong this time.

Leg 4 Selections: Coolmoyne
COOLMOYNE only got as far as the second on his chase debut but he came close to defying top-weight at Hexham last time, putting in nice late progress to only be beaten a length into third and he remains on the same mark here. His third at Newcastle in a class three to the 134-rated Barrichello (beaten only about three lengths) is solid form and he is one to consider here.

Leg 5 Selections: Mac Suibhne
MAC SUIBHNE has been in great form since joining this yard and beat a dual subsequent winner easily in a match-race at Wetherby last time. He has gone up four pounds as a result but he’s open to further improvement and the way he dispatched his rival last time was impressive. He jumped and travelled well and, if in similar form here, he could follow-up as this race lacks strength in depth.

Leg 6 Selections: Nick Lost
NICK LOST is unproven over this distance but he ran very well when sixth of 20 at Cheltenham last time, where his jumping was really good and his trainer boasts an excellent 24% strike-rate at this venue. It’s possible this race has been his main target and connections were using that latest assignment as a warm-up. Given he made the frame twice last year off marks of 126 and 127, alongside other bits of decent form, he’s well-treated off 119 here and, if he does stay, this Irish raider could go close to winning over this marathon trip.
