14:30 Newcastle

We are at Newcastle today where another £100,000 is up for grabs on today’s Placepot pool! Here are today’s recommended tips for each of the first six races. Best of luck!

Leg 1 Selections: Pocket The Packet

George Boughey’s POCKET THE PACKET came out on top in a C&D nursery 14 days ago and his yard continues in fine form at the moment too. With more to come on just his second start in handicaps, this son of Mayson can produce another power-packed finish and take the spoils.

Leg 2 Selections: Reclaim Victory, Raffles Rebel

RECLAIM VICTORY won over C&D back in July and has made three frame in all three starts at this course since. He remains well-treated on last years form and should go close. RAFFLES REBEL wasn’t disgraced when sixth over C&D on return from a four months break last time and could build on that here.

Leg 3 Selections: Enigmatic

ENIGMATIC has been consistent in defeat in most of his starts this year and ran a creditable race when third over C&D last time off this exact mark. He is six pounds below his last winning mark, gets on well with Kevin Stott and is drawn well in stall one, so he has a big chance in this race with a good record on the all-weather.

Leg 4 Selections: Crocodile Power, Novak

CROCODILE POWER has a good record at this venue and has made the frame in his last three starts. He’s up to a career-high mark but must enter calculations given the form he’s in this year. NOVAK, another C&D winner, has been competitive the last two times again here in better events and could go one better back down in grade.

Leg 5 Selections: Maxzeno

Mick Appleby’s MAXZENO is related to smart sprinter Danzeno and was only beaten a neck at Redcar eleven days ago. He meets that same rival who came out on top on four pounds better terms here, so he must have a good chance of reversing the form with more to come.

Leg 6 Selections: Cottam Lane, Embour

COTTAM LANE hasn’t won since last year but has consistently posted good efforts in defeat since and makes his debut on this surface off a nice mark. He could go well, while EMBOUR has fallen to a dangerously low-mark and shouldn’t be written off despite his poor run of form of late.
