David Pipe has two runners in this valuable race but the fact that Tom Scudamore has opted to ride GERICAULT ROQUE (best price 6/1) over Remastered should be noted. Tom could have also ridden Red Happy in the Badger Beer at Wincanton but has decided to come here instead. This six-year-old has yet to finish out of the frame in all career starts and ran some excellent efforts in defeat over fences last season.

Those efforts include when second in the Classic Chase at Warwick before filling the same spot when second of 24 in the Ultima Handicap Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. He’s had a wind operation since last time and had won two of his three hurdle starts earlier in his career, so I doubt we have seen the best of him, especially in this sphere. With loads more to offer this term, he’s got a huge chance on his reappearance.

REE OKKA (best price 13/8) has a great chance to make a successful chase debut here. Harry Fry’s charge ran a great race when second on his rules debut at this meeting last year behind subsequent Grade One winner Gelino Bello and then gave weight and a beating to the useful Complete Unknown, who went and won a valuable Grade Three last year to advertise the strength of the form.

He then followed up at Kempton next time, winning by six lengths without breaking sweat, and while he could only finish seventh of 17 when sent off favourite for a Grade Three on his final start, it wasn’t a bad effort upon reflection of the race, and this former point winner should relish these fences. An opening mark of 128 has definitely underestimated him and he can open his account at the first time of asking here.

Frodon will probably win this given he’s the class act in the field but his odds just don’t appeal to me and from an each-way perspective, I wouldn’t rule out the David Pipe-trained RED HAPPY (best price 12/1). He’s already had plenty of racing for his age considering he’s only a five-year-old and was winning for the sixth time this year when seeing off three rivals at Exeter last month.

All of his wins have been gained in small fields and this is his toughest test to date but he’s a sound jumper, will relish conditions and this race generally looks tailor-made for him on the face of it. Phillip Armson takes off three pounds and his claim effectively means this tough and durable youngster gets into this race off 9-13 given Frodon is in the line-up. With four places generally available and a few of these having a fair bit to prove at the moment, he could go well at large odds.

Red Happy - 0.5pts e/w @ 12/1

I don’t think this is a strong renewal of the Grand Sefton and if AL DANCER (best price 11/2) takes to the unique course, he could outclass these off a mark that’s extremely lenient given his previous exploits. Sam Thomas has made a bright start to the campaign and this talented nine-year-old has a good record fresh. Besides his return last year, which can be overlooked for various reasons. his form figures first-time-out reads an excellent 2111.

His last campaign concluded with two placed efforts, including when narrowly denied by Lalor when last spotted at Newbury under Charlie Deutsch. The assessor has only put him up a pound as a result and any arrival of rain won’t do him any harm either. He’s Sam Thomas’ only runner of the day and given his runner is prone to being a good operator over his obstacles, it’s possible these fences will suit him nicely. I think he’s got an outstanding chance of at least making the frame. Four places generally available.

I also like the claims of the Milton Harris-trained JACAMAR (best price 16/1) who could be well-suited to the demands of this course. He’s a fluent jumper, which is exactly the attribute you need around this course, and he shaped a lot better then the beaten margin indicated last time when fourth at Chepstow and gets the assistance of Johnny Burke here, who’s a great jockey in my opinion to have on side.

This seven-year-old should strip a lot fitter for that latest return to action and the drop in distance should suit as the three-miles seemingly stretched his stamina alongside a lack of fitness. He won’t mind a spot of rain and given Two For Gold is set to carry top-weight, he gets into this race off a really handy weight. If he takes to the larger obstacles, this strong-traveller could be set to feature heavily in the outcome of this race. Four widely available with firms too.

It’s going to be great seeing Highfield Princess and Golden Pal go hammer and tongue in what is going to a strongly-run Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint. However, as much as I respect both, it’s possible they could take each other on and set this race up for a closer. With this in mind, I’ll take a chance on CREATIVE FORCE (best price 14/1) for the boys in blue.

William Buick and Charlie Appleby had a great day here yesterday and this Group 1 winner should get a lovely pace to aim at and he’s drawn well in stall one. He’s bang there on official ratings, so I’m not sure why he’s so big in the betting to be honest. He will love conditions and has plenty going for him, so it would come as no surprise to see him finish with a power-packed late surge which can hopefully transpire into a good result with four places widely on offer.

The French raider MALAVATH (best price 22/1) looks a huge price for the Breeders’ Cup Mile. I think she holds a much stronger chance than her odd suggest here, especially when you consider the last time she travelled to America, where she finished a close-up second in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at this meeting last year and has clearly been a targeted at this meeting again this time round.

She ran a very good race when second in the Qatar Prix de la Foret to Kinross and she comes out best at the weights on todays terms. Tyler Gaffalione’s confidence will be high after bagging two winners yesterday and, in the hope he can navigate a smooth passage on this filly, she could easily exceed her double-figure odds expectations. Four places generally available.

WAR LIKE GODDESS (best price 4/1) is the only mare in the race and has an outstanding chance of bagging the Grade 1 Longines Breeders' Cup Turf. She’s two-from-two at this course and was last seen battering her rivals at Belmont. She needs a good pace to aim to be seen to maximum effect and that’s likely to happen here with confirmed front-runners in the field.

A lot of these either need to improve or arrive here on the back of poor efforts and this mare, who’s won nine of her twelve starts, is drawn well in stall two and arrives at the very top of her game. Jockey Joel Rosario has an excellent 23% strike-rate at this course too, so with a clutch of positives about her chances, she is a major player. Four places widely available.
