Architect Tips shares his Tote Placepot tips for today's action at Southwell.
Leg 1 Selections: Silverlode, Dreaming Princess
Brian Ellison’s SILVERLODE has shaped quite promisingly in three runs to date in stronger events and takes a drop in grade on his first try over a mile. He could be one of the biggest improvers in this race, so he’s hard to leave out of the shortlist here with plenty more to come and his stable in very good form of late too.
DREAMING PRINCESS ran a really good race to finish fourth last-time-out despite being badly hampered at a crucial stage of the race. He should have loads more to come and is drawn well in stall five plus Rossa Ryan maintains the partnership too. If he gets a clear passage, he certainly has the credentials to go well here.
Leg 2 Selections: Wadacre Grace, Biplane
WADACRE GRACE scored at Newcastle in September and has made the frame twice in four starts since. She’s been left on the same mark as when second last-time-out and although she’s been drawn in stall nine, she has an experienced jockey in the plate and should be able to make a big impact here.
BIPLANE won over course-and-distance back in August and ran a lot better than the finishing position indicated when sixth over the same track and trip last time. She goes up markedly in grade but should be open to a bit more improvement and it would come as no surprise to see this filly be there or thereabouts.
Leg 3 Selections: Think Climate
THINK CLIMATE could only finish sixth on debut in what was a warm-looking novice event but improved enormously to win with loads to spare at Chelmsford last-time-out from the front. He has to shoulder a penalty this time around but he should have more to come and is strongly fancied to make the frame at the very least in this race.
Leg 4 Selections: Tiger Trap
TIGER TRAP has left plenty to work on in both starts to date, where he’s done his work in the closing stages in a pair of class four events. He should find this race a bit easier as he drops into a class five for the first time and given this race lacks any real substance, he should be really competitive under David Allan.
Leg 5 Selections: Shark Two One, Show Me A Sunset
SHARK TWO ONE has found it difficult to win these last two years but he ran quite well at Chelmsford last time and is down to a career-low for this race. He’s not one to write off just yet given his back-class and the fact that he was rated as high as 95 last year. He is handicapped to run a big race if able to build on that latest display.
SHOW ME A SUNSET won at this course around this time last year and went close when second at Chelmsford last-time-out. He was helped by the strong pace that day and while he’ll need another good pace to aim here, that’s possible as he’s likely to be finishing his race to good effect.
Leg 6 Selections: Captain Vallo
Just the sole representative for me in the sixth race in the shape of CAPTAIN VALLO, who won a shade comfortably over course-and-distance and a three-pound rise seems fair. He had previously won and made the frame multiple times off higher marks last year, so he remains well-treated and is drawn well in stall five, so he has every chance to follow-up here with lots in his favour
