Leg 1 Selections: Engrave, Red Evelyn

ENGRAVE loves it here. She is a five-time course-and-distance winner and also made the frame twice over track and trip back in August earlier this year too. She didn’t run to her best when down the field here last time but the assessor has given her a chance and if she’s able to bounce back to something near her best, she should be firmly in the picture.

RED EVELYN hasn’t won since early last year but has been pretty consistent in defeat ever since that success and hasn’t been beaten far the last two times. She is drawn well in stall one and is very well-treated off 51 here given all of her previous placed efforts in handicaps were off higher marks. This could be the time to catch her with lots in her favour.

Leg 2 Selections: Hill Station, Persian Wolf

HILL STATION had run well in three previous attempts over hurdles before making an eye-catching return to the Flat when third of 14 at Lingfield eight days ago. He has been let in this race off the exact same mark and his trainer has been amongst the winner over the last couple of months. With a good claimer booked to ride and a good draw in stall two, he’s a huge player.

PERSIAN WOLF has only one win to his name on the Flat but has made the frame in all of his last three starts and remains on the same mark as last time. He appears to be very well-treated on his best form and could be about to notch a first victory in the UK from a nice draw in stall three. Plus he ran very well when third over this course-and-distance on his penultimate start.

Leg 3 Selections: Profitar Rules, Ok Pal

PROFITAR RULES hasn’t really shown much in three starts to date but the combination of cheekpieces and a drop in grade might be the catalyst for an improved performance here. Pierre takes off a valuable three-pounds and he’s drawn effectively in stall two as well, so he could go well at quite large odds here, especially with his trainer in great form at present.

OK PAL didn’t make an impact in a trio of novice events but the way he kept on strongly to finish second here last fine was encouraging and Dougie Costello maintains the partnership who was on his back last time. He’s not ideally drawn in stall twelve but he should have more to come and it would come as no surprise to see him run well again at this course.

Leg 4 Selections: Fierce, Popular Dream

Gary Moore’s FIERCE has improved with each start and produced a power-packed late surge to take third in a class three event at Newbury last-time-out. He is returns to novice company in a much weaker assignment and should be competitive with even more to come despite being drawn a bit wide in stall ten.

POPULAR DREAM is related to plenty of useful types and trainer James Tate could have a decent prospect on his hands. The fact that Rossa Ryan has been booked to ride could mean a bold effort is anticipated, so at the likely odds, he might be worth an investment in the hope we can eliminate a number of units going into the next race.

Leg 5 Selections: Demi Pointe

Roger Varian’s DEMI POINTE is bred to be decent and wasn’t disgraced when sixth of 10 in a warm-looking race on debut at Goodwood. She’s been absent since but should have improved a lot from that debut effort and there’s every possibility she can confirm that initial promise and get herself involved here in leg five under Jack Mitchell.

Leg 6 Selections: Intuitive

INTUITIVE was a little below-par when last spotted but that looked a hotter race than the one hell contest here and he returns off a nice mark with a good record fresh. He gave weight and beating to the talented Documenting on his return last year and the application of cheekpieces here could help. If he gets the required strong pace, he should be finishing his race off to good effect and could therefore make the frame off top-weight.
