Architect Tips shares his Tote Placepot tips for today's action at Newcastle.

Leg 1 Selections: DINGLE, CLOCH NUA
DINGLE drops into a class five for the first time in his career and should be able to make his presence felt here having run a solid race when fifth of 14 over this course-and-distance when last spotted. He is seven-pounds below his last winning mark, which came in a class four, plus he’s down to a career-low mark, so he has to be considered a major player here.
CLOCH NUA has been extremely consistent in recent months though and this track and trip winner has not been out the first two in his last four starts. He was a good second at Wolverhampton last week and is eligible to compete off the exact same mark here. He could do with a strong pace but that’s possible and it’s hard to see him not featuring in the outcome of this wide-open race.

Leg 2 Selections: LASER GUIDED, IMPERIAL ACE
LASER GUIDED was an expensive yearling and shaped with a lot of promise when sixth of 13 on debut having been forced to race-wide throughout before keeping on well in the closing stages. This son of Kingman should have a lot more to come and is drawn well in stall one, so he is one for the shortlist here.
Of the others, IMPERIAL ACE has a smart pedigree and could surprise a few at large odds here. Hugo Palmer has a good record with newcomers and this horse, who’s related to several winners, is drawn nicely in stall four and Jack Mitchell takes the ride too. He could easily get involved, especially if the market speaks in his favour.

Leg 3 Selections: INTRICACY
The highly-promising INTRICACY shaped very well when runner-up at Wolverhampton on his debut when only headed in the closing stages having looked set to score at one point. Roger Varian’s charge will have learnt a lot from that experience and sets a good standard for the rest to aim at here. With a lot more to offer and this race not looking all that strong, he should have the capabilities to go one better and justify favouritism.

Leg 4 Selections: ENEMY
This race should prove to be a straightforward task for the classy ENEMY to take the spoils. He easily has the best form on offer and Ian Williams’ smart stayer takes a huge drop in grade ahead of his return on the back of wind surgery. He was successful on the all-weather in France, so the course shouldn’t prove an issue plus he meets his two rivals off level-weights but is rated much higher than the pair. I would make him even shorter in the betting, so he gets a confident vote to outclass these.

Leg 5 Selections: ONE MORE DREAM
The John Quinn-trained ONE MORE DREAM has won three of his five starts on the all-weather to date and was a shade unlucky not to win last time when denied a clear passage when making ground before flying home to take fourth. He has looked a different proposition since returning from a wind operation and is two-from-two over course-and-distance, so he’s worth Placepot inclusion given his track record and more to offer from this mark.

Leg 6 Selections: APACHE STARK, POCKET THE PACKET
APACHE STARK raced far too freely at Doncaster when last spotted but her second to Kinta at Kempton earlier this year is some of the best form on offer. She has shaped well in both starts on the all-weather and the Ralph Beckett team are in good form. The favourite will be hard to beat but if this filly can lower that rivals colours, we could win a decent share of the prize fund, provided we get to the last race that is.
POCKET THE PACKET has to be included for backup purposes though, who’s a winner of four of his last five starts and should have more to come.
