MIMOSET (best price 7/2) is still awaiting his first success, but there’s every chance that the combination of five-furlongs and today’s track will prove the solution in his search for his breakthrough win.

Only the width of a fag paper got in the way of a deserved victory at Southwell two stars ago and although she failed in her bid to make amends on her return visit next time, her performance was on-par based on the clock. Prior to those two solid efforts, Rae Guest’s filly travelled like the most likely winner for majority of the six-furlong journey until her stamina gave way close home, but now returning to the minimum trip, there has to be a reasonable chance she will finally piece it all together and get her head in front where it matters most.

MEASURED MOMENTS (NAP) (best price 7/4) has impressed with the manner of her two victories since being stepped up in trip in recent times and with today’s extra yardage threatening to bring about even more improvement from John Butler’s filly, the hat trick looks very much on the cards.

The further the race developed, the stronger the daughter of Time Test became when causing a 25/1 shock at Wolverhampton two starts ago and she went on to prove that initial victory was no fluke with an equally dominant display back over the same C&D four days later.

Settling nicely in midfield as the field went along at solid fractions, the three-year-old filly was asked to go about her work spinning off the home turn and without too much fuss, she soon assumed command to eventually pull well clear of her toiling rivals. Time figure-wise, her numbers from the Dunstall Park venue stack up very well for the grade and with the runner-up going on to boost the form since, there’s no reason to believe why she wouldn’t follow suit in this similar heat.
