Architect Tips shares his Tote Placepot tips for today's action at Chelmsford.
17:30 Chelmsford
Leg 1 Selections: Two Desserts, Bluff
TWO DESSERTS was slowly away on debut at Wolverhampton but showed distinct signs of promise and kept on strongly to take third. With much more to come and that experience to draw upon, Alice Haynes’ charge should go very well here. Robert Cowell’s BLUFF also ran a promising race when a keeping-on third on debut over this course-and-distance having been slowly away and could also pose a threat in what is a wide-open opener.

Leg 2 Selections: Bonnsie
BONNSIE is fancied to upset the favourite here. I thought she was ridden too aggressively last time and is better judged on her victory at Kempton when beating a 67-rated horse. She is rated three-pounds higher than the favourite and has been highly tried a few times this year in class two events. She goes very well for this rider and has a good draw in stall two, so if there’s any horse capable of beating the favourite, she could be the one to do just that. I think she’s got an excellent chance.

Leg 3 Selections: Scramble, Giant
SCRAMBLE did loads wrong when fourth on debut but improved plenty to finish second five days ago in which she made an odds-on favourite work quite hard in the end. A repeat performance here could be enough to see her go one place better. GIANT was clearly in need of the experience when down the field on debut at Newcastle a couple of months ago but should prove a different proposition with that run under his belt and has to be feared here.

Leg 4 Selections: G’daay, Maysong
G’DAAY has won four times this year and while this three times course-and-distance winner is on a career-high mark, his record at this course speaks for itself and he should therefore give another solid account of himself here. Of the rest, perhaps bottom-weight MAYSONG will go very well. He bounced back to form when second five days ago and sneaks into this race off the exact same mark. He is the lowest rated runner in the field but he could prove to be the biggest danger with a seven-pounds claimer booked to ride.

Leg 5 Selections: Big Bard, Thomas Equinas
BIG BARD won over track and trip last year and whilst he has remained winless since, he shaped with plenty of encouragement when third last month off a pound higher mark. He should be thereabouts in this thin race, though THOMAS EQUINAS did very well from a wide draw to take fourth last time over course-and-distance and has a chance. The assessor has surprisingly dropped his mark two-pounds snd Dean Ivory’s charge has to enter calculations here with more to come.
20:00 Chelmsford
Leg 6 Selections: Em Jay Kay
EM JAY KAY has made the frame in all five starts to date and ran a fine race after nearly seven months off when third at Southwell last time. He ran well on his only previous visit here and makes his handicap debut off a really lenient mark. He is worth another go over this longer trip having shaped really well when third at Newcastle over it previously and is fancied to go close again in a first-time handicap with more to offer.
