Leg 1 Selections: Queen Of Ipanema

QUEEN OF IPANEMA was seeking a sixth win in succession when she came unstuck last-time-out but that was in a much deeper race than this (class two) and she is dropped a couple of grades for this race.

She’s three-from-three in handicaps at this venue and won her sole start over course-and-distance. From a good slot in stall three, she could resume winning ways.

Leg 2 Selections: God Of Fire, Sniper’s Eye

The Stuart Williams-trained GOD OF FIRE has been sent off a big price the last two times but took a major step forward from his debut fifth when keeping on to be fourth on his all-weather debut last-time-out. With more to come, from a nice draw in two, he could pose a threat.

SNIPER’S EYE has a good pedigree and could be ready for his debut in this race. His trainer has started to hit a bit of form of late and this horse is Jamie Spencer’s only ride on the card as well. Also drawn well, in stall three, he should go well in a race that won’t take a lot of winning.

Leg 3 Selections: King Athelstan, Harmonious

KING ATHELSTAN could take the world of beating in leg three. He is six pounds below his last winning mark and almost caused a major shock when a narrow third at a big price at Southwell last time. He is four pounds lower than when second here last year and, if able to match his latest form, he is the one to beat.

HARMONIOUS is another well-treated one in the field, who was rated as high as 81 last year and whilst his last few efforts have hardly been inspiring, he has a decent chance in this. He was second off a thirty pounds higher mark here last year and if able to rediscover that form, he would surely be competitive.

Leg 4 Selections: My Boy Jack, Bungle Bay

MY BOY JACK is still winless but it’s hard to dispute his consistency, given he has made the frame in six of his last seven starts. He has been getting closer and closer to a first career success and was a solid third here last time from a poor draw. Drawn better in stall 1 here, this could be his day.

BUNGLE BAY only missed on the spoils by a neck here last time and has only been raised a pound for that effort which is very lenient. In an ideal world, a lower draw would have been preferable but this race is weak and it wouldn’t come at all as a surprise if he went one better.

Leg 5 Selections: Doctor Mozart

The Doctor, DOCTOR MOZART, was finally rewarded for success last time at Chelmsford under an enterprising ride after three previous placed efforts and this is a good opportunity to follow-up here.

David Evans' charge is back in a handicap off a realistic mark and despite being drawn in stall six, which makes his task a bit harder, he should make a bold bid.

Leg 6 Selections: Black Box, Golden Prosperity

BLACK BOX was a fair sixth at this course just under two weeks ago and her trainer is firmly amongst the winners, which is always a good sign. She looks well-treated on the pick of her form that she displayed two years ago and could easily make the frame in this weak contest.

GOLDEN PROSPERITY was down the field last time but had made the frame in his three previous starts and is well-handicapped. His trainer has done well on a few times here previously plus a nice slot in stall three is handy too. He should have more to offer and should feature in the outcome.
