MICK’S SPIRIT (NAP) (best price 7/4) can count himself a little unlucky to bump into the progressive and in-form Man On A Mission at Lingfield last time out, but with seemingly nothing of that calibre facing him in today’s contest, Conrad Allen’s gelding is strongly fancied to take advantage of a drop in grade.

A little frustrating of late, finishing on the fringes of the action without popping his bib in front, his second in as many starts six days ago rather epitomised his plight but at least he came out of the race with a smart speed to show for his efforts.

Just slightly missing the break, the son of Swiss Spirit sat just in behind the pace until pouncing off the home turn, but no sooner had he got his head in front, along came the eventual winner from the clouds to run him down close home.

Looking at his overall profile, the last time he raced in Class 6 company he scored by a comfortable two lengths and having also proven himself over today’s C&D with fine performance on his only visit back in October, a return to the Sunbury venue in the first-time visor can reap maximum rewards.

ROLLY BOWLEY BOY (best price 9/2) easily did best of those who injudiciously went around the inside on the swamp at Limerick last time out and with that effort backed up by several solid displays in similar races previously, Ciaran Murphy’s gelding can go close to finally shedding the maiden tag.

Sent off 16-1 in what looked a very competitive handicap for the grade, the six-year-old raced off the speed set by eventual winner Doyen To Win in the early stages and although he never really threatened the main players during the final mile, he did really well to keep on as strongly as he did considering he was racing on treacle for the entire journey.

Slightly disappointing over 3m1f at Sligo back in October, the son of Carlotamix performed with better credit over half a mile shorter behind the useful Music Drive at Galway previously and with the hood off and cheekpieces remaining, it would come as no surprise if he were vying for top honours providing he races on the right part of the track here this afternoon (often out wide when the ground gets churned up).

KIM WEXLER (best price 11/4) has had to be carried out on her shield on her last two starts and with David Loughnane’s mare showing no signs of letting her foot off the gas on the evidence of her recent performances, there’s no obvious reason to desert her in her bid to get back to winning ways.

An extremely game winner when making all the running at Wolverhampton three starts ago, the daughter of Mehmas has since put in two similar shifts back at the Midland venue to no avail, but at the same time, you couldn’t fault her commitment.

A really likeable and durable mare who seemingly leaves everything out on the track, today’s speed-based track should really play into her strengths and if so, she has every chance of turning around the form with old rival So Grateful when they last met here last August.
