Leg 1 Selections: BASCINET

The Eve Johnson Houghton-trained BASCINET has been extremely consistent since October and having made the frame in five consecutive starts, he has since landed back-to-back events at Chelmsford. He has been raised 3Ib for the latest of those but another good claimer reduces his weight and the hat-trick could be on the cards in the opener.

Leg 2 Selections: RAMENSKY

RAMENSKY sets a good standard on his previous form in which he has steadily progressed with each start and returned a clear 2nd on the turf when last spotted. He takes a drop in grade, goes up in distance and has the assistance of Hollie Doyle. With all those contributing factors taken into account, he can get off the mark on his all-weather debut here.

Leg 3 Selections: RAY OF COLOURS, VICTORY HOUSE

RAY OF COLOURS ran to a decent level when 4th last time and might have been let in highly on his handicap debut off 70 here. If Franny Norton decides to dictate matters from the front, Charlie Johnston’s charge could take some pegging back here.

VICTORY HOUSE failed to see out a longer trip at Lingfield recently when only 4th but a repeat of his previous 2nd at Wolverhampton would give him good claims in this company. This race ultimately won’t take a lot of winning so he might go close to recording a first success and is Charlie Fellowes only runner on the card too.

Leg 4 Selections: HANNAH’S RETURN, KRAKEN FLORIDA

This is completely wide-open. However, HANNAH’S RETURN is going the right way and was well on top at the finish at Wolverhampton when last spotted. This filly has to overcome a 5Ib higher mark but her trainer is in good form and she should be thereabouts with a similar performance to last time here. She has solid place claims.

KRAKEN FLORIDA returned to form a good 2nd at this course last time when outrunning his 50/1 odds. He should be fine over this longer trip and Zak Wheatley, who claims 5Ib, remains in the saddle as well. He is drawn effectively in stall 6 and has possibilities with a repeat showing here.

Leg 5 Selections: FINERY

FINERY won easily in a stronger race than this last time and drops in grade with an excellent chance of doubling her tally in recent weeks for Mick Appleby. A good draw in stall 2 can only help her chances and given her good record on the all-weather in this grade, she has to be considered a leading contender against this field.

Leg 6: TENNESSEE DREAM, DEBYDINKS

Charlie Hills’ TENNESSEE DREAM has to give 6 pounds and upwards to all of these but stayed on strongly to take the spoils at Wolverhampton last time and should be able to build on that here. She takes on DEBYDINKS again here but might able to confirm that form with Kevin Stott retained to ride.

The latter travelled best last time but found little off the bridle, so it’s most likely he will be hold onto a bit longer in this race. He remains a maiden but is consistent and I expect one of these two selections to win this race. Little Red Dancer could threaten but the rest don’t look enough to trouble the top three.
