Steve Ryder is back with three tips from today's action.
15:15 Wolverhampton
This looks a competitive 0-70 handicap but the one who I think is overpriced is the Ivan Furtado trained GIORGIO VASARI (best priced at 4/1). The five-year-old has been in consistently good form this season with form figures of 12232 with his victory coming over this course and distance in December. He has crept up the weights from a mark of 52 up to a mark of 61 where he was only beaten ¾ length at Chelmsford last time.
That run came on Thursday and Giorgio Vasari gets to run here off the same mark of 61 despite the handicapper raising him 1lb for that performance. He is well drawn in Stall 2 and should run well under Kieran O’Neill with most bookmakers offering three places despite there only being seven runners.
15:35 Plumpton
Hopefully Plumpton passes an early morning inspection as I feel SHOT BOII (best priced at 4/1) holds strong claims of winning his fourth race in a row this season. The David Pipe trained six-year-old has won all three of his starts this season but because of his narrow margins of victory it has meant he os now only rated 11lbs higher than his initial success.
Shot Boii won twice at Lingfield off marks of 91 and 95 before winning on heavy ground at Uttoxeter in December off a mark of 98. The handicapper has raised the gelding 4lbs for his ½ length success but he always looked in control that day under Fergus Gillard. Tom Scudamore takes back over on board here and he looks sure to run well with up to four places on offer.
16:25 Wolverhampton
The Mick Appleby trained JUPITER EXPRESS (best priced at 6/5) needs to bounce back from a below par effort here last time in a better race but he should run well from 3lbs “well in” at the weights. The four-year-old won over 7f here on his penultimate start off a mark of 62 in a 0-60 handicap before finding a Class 5 0-75 handicap too tough on his next start.
Jupiter Express runs here off a mark of 61 which is actually 1lb lower than his recent course success but crucially he now drops back down in class to a Class 6 0-60 handicap once again. He is 3lbs “well in” off this mark of 61 and should prove hard to beat with Tom Marquand a notable booking.
