Leg 1 Selections: Hit Mac, You’re Cool
HIT MAC did well to get up within the shadows of the post over course-and-distance seven days ago considering he failed to settle in the early stages. He has to carry a five pound penalty this time around but the headgear worn last time is retained and he has to be respected with the in-form Billy Loughnane booked to ride, who claims three.
YOU’RE COOL loves this place, as he has won eight times over track and trip and was back on-song when second here just four days ago. He should be thereabouts from a good draw in stall five with a seven pound claimer in the saddle

Leg 2 Selections: Odd Socks Havana, Well Prepared
Not the easiest of classified events to digest but ODD SOCKS HAVANA won at this course last March off a four pound higher mark and showed signs of a return to winning form might be on the cards last time when fifth at Newcastle. He is granted the box seat in stall one and the drop in distance should prove beneficial as well. I think he has excellent place possibilities in leg 2 here.
WELL PREPARED has only one win to his name but has twice made the frame here off higher marks and is nine pounds lower than that sole previous success, so he is undoubtedly well-handicapped. His trainer and jockey are in great form at the moment too, so his chances are transparent and he should be competitive.

Leg 3 Selections: Renesmee
Charlie Appleby’s Glittering Lights should have a good chance but is starting to look a bit exposed and preference goes to RENESMEE, who has performed with great credit in both starts to date.
This filly shaped well when fourth on debut at Yarmouth and improved on that promise when third at Ascot next time in a much stronger event than this race. That form is working out well and she is drawn nicely in stall three, so she could be the answer here in leg 3.

Leg 4 Selections: Gasman, Denetsu
Another difficult race on the card for leg 4 but GASMAN made a solid start to his handicap career when second to a big improver at Lingfield despite not being ideally placed and might find this race a bit easier. He has been raised three pounds for that success but is open to a lot more improvement and could pose a major threat to his rivals.
DENETSU also ran a good race on handicap debut when second over course-and-distance and would have been closer with a clear passage in that race. She remains a filly with potential and is drawn well in three. A reproduction of that latest display, with a clear run, might be enough to see her open her account for connections.

Leg 5 Selections: Man Made Of Smoke, Rebel Angel
MAN MADE OF SMOKE could never get competitive at this course last time but the pace should be stronger here and he is seemingly the type to come good at some point for David Evans. This race is easier than last time and Jordan Williams will ride, who takes off seven pounds, so he could make a bold bid in leg 5.
REBEL ANGEL was behind James Bradley last time when third but is now better off at the weights in their second clash and an excellent apprentice in Billy Loughnane takes off seven pounds. He is drawn well, has twice made the frame off this mark already and could be about to give his in-form rider another winner. He should play a leading role in the outcome of this race.

Leg 6 Selections: Jenson Benson
I am all in on JENSON BENSON in leg 6, who has ran well in both starts this year and was a good third on her debut at this course last time. She is still above her last winning mark but she did bolt up at Chelmsford and should be better suited to the way the race might pan out. Kieran Shoemark has his only ride on the card and he can make the trip to the West Midlands venue worthwhile.
