Leg 1 Selections: Parramount, Arqoob

PARRAMOUNT was smart in bumpers and has looked even better over hurdles in three starts. He should be able to build on his handicap debut second last time and be more competitive here.

ARQOOB was rated as high as 93 on the Flat and has a good chance if able to translate that ability to this sphere.

Leg 2 Selections: William Cody

Plenty of these arrive out of form with the exception of WILLIAM CODY, who has taken really well to fences and made it two wins from four starts in this sphere by nine lengths at Huntingdon last time.

A nine pound rise makes life a bit more difficult but he is clearly at the top of his game and Pam Sly’s charge is strongly fancied in leg 3 to make it three wins in this sphere. He is the sole pick in this particular race.

Leg 3 Selections: Storminhome, Spago

There is no denying Ben Pauling is having a good season and he has a good chance here with STORMINHOME who has finished second and third in both starts to date in this sphere and wasn’t beaten far at this course last time when beaten only two lengths.

He has more to offer and could pose an even bigger threat in this race, though SPAGO is sure to improve on his hurdles debut third at Taunton and could get involved here in leg 3. His trainer is in very good form as well.

Leg 4 Selections: Komedy Kicks, Libby

I fancy a couple of Irish raiders to serve it up to Nicky Henderson’s charge in leg 4. KOMEDY KICKS shaped very nicely when second at Fairyhouse over Christmas and it’s interesting Jessie Harrington sends this filly over here to contest this race.

She could have a big chance with better to come, while Joseph O’Brien’s LIBBY has good claims as well. She has finished fourth in two large-field events over hurdles and her stable won this last year, so there is a lot to like about her chances.

Leg 5 Selections: Before Midnight, Saint Segal

BEFORE MIDNIGHT is probably the solid option in leg 5 to make the frame. Sam Thomas’s 10-year-old has held his form well since completing his hat-trick back in November 2021. He is back on that same mark now and was second off a four pound higher mark here last year.

He has to be considered a player, while SAINT SEGAL has won both his chase starts in good style and has the potential to rate higher for Jane Williams. I can envisage this improving youngster running a big race as he bids to remain unbeaten in this sphere.

Leg 6 Selections: Curley Finger, What An Ocean

A difficult race to solve, so a lot of luck will definitely be needed. However, CURLEY FINGER could only finish fourth when sent off favourite last time but might actually appreciate the step up in distance here and the two pound reduced mark can only help matters.

He could easily make the frame, while Irish raider WHAT AN OCEAN has twice made the frame over hurdles and wasn’t disgraced when sixth last time. Gordon Elliott’s charge could go well in leg 6 here.
