Leg 1 Selections: I’d Like To Know, Inneston

I’D LIKE TO KNOW won decisively on his hurdles debut and was then highly tried in a Grade Two event. He ultimately finished last of six but this race is so much easier and he retains potential in this sphere. He should be a big player in this race with his rider taking off an additional seven pounds in leg 1.

INNESTON ran a lot better than the beaten margin indicated when third on his hurdles debut at Newbury and has more to come. The fact he was the choice of Jamie Moore that day suggests he is thought of a lot and he could be about to make a big impact in this.

Leg 2 Selections: Unit Sixtyfour, Line Of Descent

Ben Pauling’s UNIT SIXTYFOUR has made a good start to his chasing career and never saw another rival when slamming his rivals by 12 lengths at Warwick last time. His jumping was very fluent and despite being hit with a massive hike in the weights, the top-weight could be set to follow up here in leg 2 with more to come.

LINE OF DESCENT ran a promising race when second on his chase debut last time and is a pound lower for this race. He gets into this race off bottom-weight and his trainer's horses have been running well of late too. With improvement forthcoming, this five-year-old is probably the biggest danger to the top-weight.

Leg 3 Selections: Godot, Legal Rights

GODOT could be the answer to this race at decent odds. He ran to a decent level in bumpers and even contested the Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival last season as well. He could be well-treated off 103 on just his second start in a handicap and a good rider takes off three pounds. He is of interest here.

LEGAL RIGHTS is back on the same mark as when successful over course-and-distance last February and is a pound lower than when third last time. The headgear is retained and his record at this course reads two wins and second three starts. He should give another good account of himself and make the frame.

Leg 4 Selections: D’jango, Coolvalla

D’JANGO ran a satisfying race when third in the Sussex National and he has a good chance to match that performance here. He is only three pounds above his last winning mark and drops down in grade from last time, so David Pipe’s charge has excellent place claims at least here in leg 4.

Chris Gordon’s COOLVALLA has been in fantastic form since tackling the bigger obstacles, in which he is three-from-three and won for the second time at this course on Boxing Day. He is more effective on a softer surface but he remains the one to beat with a lot more to offer.

Leg 5 Selections: Mullins Bay

The Paul Nicholls-trained MULLINS BAY has a lovely pedigree and did shape with some promise in both his bumper starts. He should be able to take his form to another level now he tackles hurdles for the first time plus the longer distance promises to suit as well. He has a lot more to offer and should be competitive in leg 5 here.

Leg 6 Selections: Art Decco, En Coeur

This isn’t a competitive race and it is therefore a good opportunity for ART DECCO to potentially get off the mark over fences. He has been thereabouts the last twice, including when second on his penultimate start, and a useful conditional takes off seven pounds. He should be competitive here with more to come.

EN COEUR was given a superb ride to win earlier this month. The race itself might have fell apart but he still was given a confident ride and won by 13 lengths. He kept an odds-on favourite honest when second on his last visit here and actually has a good record overall at this course. He makes the most appeal of the rest.
