Walk With Paul is a really nice mare with tons of scope and is likely to take all the beating back at a track where’s she’s already run two nice races so far to date. However, she’s probably not quite a total slam dunk up against ONE COOL LADY (best price 5/1) who has some solid form lines against her name and at the prices, Gavin Cromwell’s inmate rates the value each-way alternative.

In the money on her first three starts in bumpers, the daughter of Flemensfirth made her debut over hurdles at Clonmel two weeks ago and although she didn’t have the class of the eventual winner, Night and Day, time may tell she bumped into a Graded performer.

To back up that view, the time figure from the opening contest at the Powerstown Park venue that day worked out easily the best on the card (much quicker than Gaelic Warrior over the same C&D) and having gone well for nine tenths of the journey, her effort deserves extra merit.

Hailing from a stable with a healthy 23% strike rate at present, the seven-year-old mare should run her race regardless of what the favourite achieves.

OLD PAINLESS (NAP) (best price 7/2) can count himself a little unfortunate to bump into a similarly progressive type in the shape of Bill Baxter (fell when going well at Hereford yesterday) at Kelso last time out, but with the pair well clear and the data from the race suggesting it’s pretty strong form for the grade, Harry Whittington’s has a fighting chance of gaining quick compensation.

Always regarded as a chaser by connections, the son of Imperial Monarch wasted little time putting that theory to the test when making a winning debut over fences at Plumpton and all bar the last 100yds at the Borders venue last time, he looked like following up.

Despite defeat, connections must have been thrilled with the way he jumped and travelled 33 days ago and with the time figure good and the first two well clear of the rest, a promising view of his effort is the only conclusion drawn.

Obviously, today’s task isn’t exactly simplified in any way up against the likes of Castle Rushen, French Paradox and Morning Spirit, all useful in their own right, but based on what he’s achieved so far and the potential he has going forward, the lightly-raced seven-year-old should give a good account at the very least.
