Leg 1 Selections: Shorts On, Pittsburg

SHORTS ON won at this course off a much higher mark last year and returned to form with a good fourth here last time. He gets into this race off the same mark and is drawn ideally in stall six too. He could have a part to play, while PITTSBURG was also a fair fourth at this course last time and will benefit from the drop back in distance, so he is also considered in leg 1.

Leg 2 Selections: Roaring Legend

James Ferguson’s ROARING LEGEND shaped with a great deal of promise when runner-up on debut behind Intricacy and that form has taken multiple boosts since with a few next-time-out winners coming out of that race who were in behind. He is drawn well in stall four, is bred to be smart and is his trainer’s only runner on the card too. He should take the world of beating in leg 2 with his best days ahead of him.

Leg 3 Selections: Glorious Angel, Alpha Capture, Shouldvebeenaring

GLORIOUS ANGEL has been in superb form of late and while she only had a neck to spare over the second at Newcastle last time, Grant Tuer’s improving daughter of Cotai Glory has to be respected in her current mood in leg 3. ALPHA CAPTURE won a Listed race at York last October and ran a decent race when third in a higher-grade event last time. He should also be competitive, while SHOULDVEBEENARING was a place in front of the former when last seen and worth inclusion to complete the trio of runners.

Leg 4 Selections: Alafdhal, Justcallmepete

ALAFDHAL won four times on the spin in the space of a month and lost little in defeat in his five-timer bid when second over track and trip just a few days ago. This is a much deeper race but he warrants serious respect. Of the rest, JUSTCALLMEPETE has won his last four starts in a row, including his last three over this course-and-distance. He has shot up the weights but remains the one to beat in leg 4.

Leg 5 Selections: All Dunn, Aurophobia

ALL DUNN has looked a different proposition the last twice and although he only scrambled home last time, he still might be able to complete the three-timer in this moderate race. AUROPHOBIA will arrive on the back of a good second at Lingfield, where she would have won in another stride. Amy Murphy’s yard is going well plus a repeat of her latest display ought to see this filly go close here. She is a big player.

Leg 6 Selections: Comedian Leader, Chuck Taylor

COMEDIAN LEADER has been thriving of late and made it two-from-two over track and trip when beating an odds-on favourite here last week. She has to compete under a penalty in this race but another win could still be on the cards. CHUCK TAYLOR has been raised three pounds for beating Coral Reef two weeks ago but is taken to confirm that form given it was a career-best performance last time.
