Architect Tips shares his Tote Placepot tips for today's action at Newcastle.
16:30 Newcastle
Leg 1 Selections: Buxted Too, Golden Vintage
BUXTED TOO has won two of his last four starts and stayed on strongly to win over slightly shorter when last spotted at Kempton. Ian Williams’ charge remains well-treated based on his 2021 form and is shortlist material in the opener. GOLDEN VINTAGE returned an easy winner over course-and-distance 12 days ago and another good effort is expected despite carrying a penalty for leg 1.

Leg 2 Selections: Broctune Red, End Zone
BROCTUNE RED has won over course-and-distance six times and is a pound lower than when winning here last March. He has a phenomenal record at this course and he looks like he is returning to form based on recent evidence, so he gets the main vote. END ZONE has been on the premises in his last three starts over track and trip and is four pounds below his last winning mark, so he remains of interest.

Leg 3 Selections: Mint Edition
With three last-time-out winners in the field, this is slightly tricky, but MINT EDITION is marginally selected over Magicdollar and Cariad, who produced a career-best performance two weeks ago, winning by three lengths, and a five pounds for that success might be on the lenient side. This is slightly tougher but he is open to further improvement and the manner in which he won last time suggests he will make a bold bid off top-weight to follow-up in leg 3.

Leg 4 Selections: Parish Councillor
PARISH COUNCILLOR lacks the course form compared to Latest Edition but David Barron’s charge ran a really good race to finish fifth of 14 on debut at Southwell and would have been closer without being too far back. This son of Ruler Of The World should be suited to the step up in trip and is his connections' only runner on the card too. Even if Latest Edition beats him, hopefully he can fill the frame in second in leg 4.

Leg 5 Selections: Gannon Glory, Hello Me
GANNON GLORY was having his first start for Richard Fahey when he finished a creditable third at Southwell last-time-out, doing all of his best work in the closing stages. The return to the longer trip should suit and he is a pound lower here than last time, so he’s a leading contender in this race for leg 5. HELLO ME has won over track and trip off a 10 pounds higher mark and she is a serious player off the same mark as when second last time.

Leg 6 Selections: Gowanbuster, Wrath Of Hector
It’s been more than two years since GOWANBUSTER last won but the eight-year-old has won over course-and-distance off an 11 pounds higher mark and went very close here last month when second. His mark has gone up two pounds but looks ready to go one better. I wouldn’t rule out WRATH OF HECTOR, who won off a five pounds higher mark last year and is reunited with Lewis Edmunds. Jessica Macey’s six-year-old could sneak into the frame in leg 6.
