Leg 1 Selections: Mr Inspiration

The opener should prove to be an excellent opportunity for MR INSPIRATION, who made a promising debut when a one-length second in December at Wolverhampton.

He did well to finish as close as he did having been slow into stride and this longer trip with that run under his belt should see an even bigger performance in this weak race.

He is drawn well in stall four and James Doyle takes the ride for the boys in blue, so he should go close in leg 1 with only Polemon recognised as the danger.

Leg 2 Selections: Elegant Ellen, Fact Or Fable, Black Box

ELEGANT ELLEN gained her first career win in emphatic style last time over track and trip, winning by two and a half lengths, and while she is three pounds higher here, she has to be considered given her current mood.

FACT OR FABLE is three pounds below his last winning mark and is drawn nicely in stall two. He should be competitive, while BLACK BOX has continued to slip in the weights and has made the frame on both previous visits to this course, so is another utsider that is worth a second look in leg 2.

Leg 3 Selections: Sir Titan, Got No Dollars, Sisters In The Sky

The last time SIR TITAN won was off a nine pounds higher mark, so he is well-treated plus he has won over course-and-distance as well. He gets a decent slot in stall six and Jonathan Fisher claims a valuable five pounds, so the nine-year-old could pose a threat.

GOT NO DOLLARS defied a pound higher mark when last successful and merits consideration from a good draw in stall two, while SISTERS IN THE SKY should be able to make another bold bid to potentially supplement his latest win here.

Leg 4 Selections: Paco’s Pride, Olympic Quest

Roger Varian’s PACO’S PRIDE has displayed promise in each of her three starts and makes her handicap debut off 64, which could turn out to be fair.

The step up in distance looks a good move and a good rider takes off an additional five pounds to help matters as well. She has to be given the utmost respect for her in-form stable.

OLYMPIC QUEST also brings a similar profile to the former, having shaped with promise in each of her three starts to date. Her trainer, Clive Cox, is also in good form too, so with more to come, she isn’t out of this.

Leg 5 Selections: Lightship

In leg 5, LIGHTSHIP could be the way to go, who ran quite well on her stable debut when fourth last month and that run should have blown away the cobwebs given it was her first start in seven months.

An opening handicap debut mark of 67 doesn’t look excessive and this race in general has an open feel about it with none of the remainder looking reliable.

With improvement on the cards for Kevin De Foy, who sends just this sole runner to the meeting, this filly could play a leading role in the outcome.

Leg 6 Selections: Metier, Rainbow Dreamer

The feature race on the card, leg 6, looks competitive, but I’ll take a chance on Harry Fry’s METIER, who cannot be taken lightly on his all-weather debut. This Grade 1-winning hurdler won the November Handicap at Doncaster when last seen in this sphere and is only five pounds higher here. If he takes to the surface, he could run a big race.

The Alan King-trained RAINBOW DREAMER is a five-time course-and-distance winner and has won this race twice in his career. He has been in great form again of late and wasn’t far behind Berkshire Rocco when second last-time-out, so he has to make the shortlist with the possibility of winning this race for a third time.
