14:20 Musselburgh

This looks a competitive 0-120 novices’ handicap chase but preference goes to Hold Onto The Line (best priced at 5/4) who made a winning chasing debut on his reappearance. The James Ewart trained six-year-old is unbeaten in handicaps including when victorious in two handicap hurdles at the end of last season. He underwent a wind operation in the winter and he managed to make a successful chase debut here last time over this course and distance.

Hold Onto The Line won by a short head to Massini Man who has since boosted the form with an eleven length win on his next start. The handicapper has raised him 7lbs which is fair as they pulled nine lengths clear of the third and I expect him to complete a four-timer here.

15:00 Lingfield

Mick Appleby has a strong hand on the Lingfield card but I prefer the chances of the David O’Meara trained Beauzon (best priced at 2/1) in this race. The four-year-old won in a first time hood at Chelmsford in January off a mark of 65 before finishing a close 3rd over this course and distance off a mark of 67.

Beauzon was only beaten a neck at Chelmsford on his previous start at Chelmsford off a mark of 67 and the handicapper has raised him 2lbs for that effort. He instead gets to run here off his previous mark so he is 2lbs “well in” at the weights and I expect him to prove hard to beat under Daniel Muscutt.

Beauzon - 1pt @ 2/1

15:5 Musselburgh

The Donald McCain trained Hidalgo De L’Isle (best priced at 6/5) made a winning handicap debut last time at Bangor and he should hold strong claims despite a 7lb higher mark. The unexposed six-year-old had previously run well to finish 2nd at Sedgefield in a bumper and at Newcastle and Sedgefield in maiden/novice hurdles resulting in him getting an opening mark of 108 for his handicap debut.

Hidalgo De L’Isle won easily that day by 5 ½ lengths and is deserving of a 7lb rise from the handicapper and I expect him to make it 2/2 in handicaps.
