Leg 1 Selections: Fourofakind

FOUROFAKIND displayed useful form on the Flat when trained in Ireland and has made a promising start over hurdles for his new handler, placing in both starts, including in first-time cheekpieces last time at Newbury.

This track should really suit this son of Make Believe, as he has plenty of speed plus Harry Derham has made an excellent start to his training career, so he is strongly fancied to open his account in the opener, leg 1.

Leg 2 Selections: Only The Bold, Richmond Lake, Arthur’s Quay, Ned Tanner

The David Pipe-trained ONLY THE BOLD has taken his form to a whole new level since tackling the larger obstacles, winning a pair of class three events, following up his Bangor success with a smooth win at Hereford. He is up 10 pounds but he could complete the hat-trick.

RICHMOND LAKE was second in a Grade Two here over hurdles and scored with plenty to spare at Wetherby in January. He is only a pound higher for this race, so he’s expected to be competitive, while ARTHUR’S QUAY and NED TANNER add further spice to this difficult race to solve in leg 2.

Leg 3 Selections: Jolly Nellerie, Elogio, Tuddenham Green

The Venetia Williams-trained JOLLY NELLERIE produced some tidy form in three starts over hurdles, winning once and finishing second in the other two and must have leading claims on his UK/stable debut with the potential to be smart.

ELOGIO has returned a beaten favourite in each of his three starts over hurdles but hasn’t been disgraced in all of them and this former bumper could be about to strike if the application of cheekpieces has a positive outcome.

TUDDENHAM GREEN won on his hurdles debut at Chepstow and has been highly tried in both starts since, including when sixth at Cheltenham last time in a Grade Two. This is a significant ease in grade and he is Daryl Jacobs only ride.

Leg 4 Selections: Hurlerontheditch, Alnadam

Kim Bailey’s HURLERONTHEDITCH won his sole bumper start in Ireland and has made the frame in both starts over hurdles in the UK. The form of each race looks quite useful and he has been let in here lightly on handicap debut. The seven-year-old could therefore be the answer to leg 4.

Of the rest, Dan Skelton’s ALNADAM could provide the biggest threat to the former, who has plenty of experience and ran a very nice race when third at Wetherby last time in a stronger event than this one. The handicapper has dropped his mark a pound plus his rider claims five pounds.

Leg 5 Selections: Shanty Alley, Your Own Story

SHANTY ALLEY can be excused for his latest run in the Eider, where he clearly didn’t stay, and is better judged on his two runner-up efforts earlier in the season. He was narrowly denied by Grumpy Charley at Newbury and Burrows Diamond at Wetherby.

He is still eight pounds above his last winning mark but this is easier than his last two assignments and could prove tough to overhaul from the front. He is his trainer's only runner on the card as well and is worth another experiment over the longer trip.

Lucinda Russell’s YOUR OWN STORY was suited to a stiffer test of stamina when seeing off a good stayer at Wetherby last time over three-miles-six-furlongs and he has the scope to surpass his new seven pounds higher mark. His stable is in good form plus he is open to further development, so it is difficult seeing him out of the frame.

Leg 6 Selections: Galudon

GALUDON must hold solid claims in leg 6. He has shown promise in each of his six starts, three times in bumpers (placed twice) and in all three starts over hurdles.

He was unlucky to be caught right on the line at Wetherby last time, beaten a short-head, and the winner has subsequently gone close to advertise the strength of the form. Major contender.
