ITV Racing Tips from Architect Tips with a Saturday each-way double at Doncaster and Kempton.
15:00 Doncaster
The Pertemps Network Cammidge Trophy Stakes has attracted a quality batch of sprinters and the price tag about VADREAM (best price 11/1) significantly underestimates her chances here, especially knowing she will be in her element under the rain-softened conditions.
This five-year-old mare has always been thought highly of by trainer Charlie Fellowes and whilst ambitions of winning a Group 1 have failed to materialise for now, she is more than capable of going well in a race of this nature. Her latest return at Wolverhampton should have blown away the cobwebs.
She does have some decent form on better ground but her best performances have been when “soft” has been in the main description, including when third in the Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot in 2021 on soft-to-heavy, when right in behind the Godolphin pair, Creative Force and Naval Crown.
Adding to that, she won the Group 3 John Guest Racing Bengough Stakes on soft ground over this trip back at Ascot, beating some good sprinters, while her fifth of 20 in the Group 1 Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes at Ascot on ground quick enough was another smart effort in defeat.
Her form has been mixed since but she was marginally denied in this grade at Newmarket last year and then outran her odds again in the Champion Sprint Stakes when sixth of 18 before a good third in a Group 3 in France. Her three runs since have been on the all-weather and it seems like connections have had this race in mind.
The good news about her chances, is that she will be fitter than most of these, as she has a run under her belt and a few of her rivals might be a touch ring-rusty, whereas this talented individual will be race-fit with conditions to suit. With everything seemingly aligned perfectly for her, she makes quite a lot of appeal at double-figure digits with four places on offer, generally.
14:05 Kempton
The Magnolia Stakes is the feature race at Kempton and while Secret State is clear on official ratings, he could prove vulnerable back down in trip on his return and preference is for the race-fit FOXES TALES (best price 11/2) who has the capabilities to land this race.
Andrew Balding’s charge ran well here on debut to finish second and that remains his only previous start at the course. He is a former Royal Ascot winner, who’s a Group 3 winner and ran well behind the high-class Lord North in the Winter Derby at Lingfield last time.
He is closely matched with Tyrrhenian Sea on that form but his performance deserved some recognition as he had no cover racing on the wing of the field, which wouldn’t have helped, whereas the runner-up had everything going his way in the race.
Still, this five-year-old absolutely charged home to take third and would have been second in another stride. He hit the line just as strongly as Lord North did and the winner has boosted the form by winning at the Dubai World Cup meeting for a third consecutive year.
That Lingfield form is really strong in the context of this race and that was only his second all-weather start since his debut second here. He remains unexposed on the surface and is reunited with Oisin Murphy, so he is fancied to emerge as the biggest threat to the favourite.

Additional Spring Mile Tip
The Spring Mile looks very competitive but the most interesting runner is WARNING SIGN (best price 33/1), trained by Gary Moore, who wasn’t disgraced in a pair of one-mile handicaps Sandown and Goodwood last autumn and could have been found an easier opportunity for his seasonal reappearance.
This four-year-old showcased useful form on heavy ground when in France and shaped well on his stable debut when doing some late progress to finish eighth of 14. He then contested a decent at Goodwood and shaped better than the beaten margin indicated when sixth of 10, as he would have finished closer with a clear passage.
The assessor has reduced his mark two pounds plus a rider who takes off seven-pounds is in the saddle. This will be Anna Gibson’s first ride at the course, so she will learnt plenty, but this four-year-old is Gary Moore’s only runner on the card and he could be set to outrun his odds with five places generally available.
