Leg 1 Selections: Torcello, Two Brothers

TORCELLO returned to winning ways for the first time in a year at Newmarket last time and while he has been hit with a four pounds rise ahead of his return, he has gone well fresh in the past. He defied a two pounds higher mark at Goodwood as well, so he’s got plenty in his favour. TWO BROTHERS finished in the frame four times in a row last season and cannot be ruled out after a break ahead of leg 1.

Leg 2 Selections: There’s The Door, Nights Over Egypt

THERE’S THE DOOR ran well when second at Newmarket last time on soft ground and is only four founds higher for this race. She could be a big player if ready to roll. NIGHTS OVER EGYPT, who has shaped nicely in all four starts to date, including at Pontefract in October. This extra yardage, on deep ground, will test his stamina but if he stays then he has to enter the reckoning off this nice mark.

Leg 3 Selections: Overrule, Greenwich

OVERRULE left the impression he could be useful after finishing fourth over track and trip on his debut and would have been closer with a smooth passage. He confirmed that promise though when scoring at Redcar next time and has a good chance. GREENWICH is related to several Group 1 winners and isn’t out of this on stable debut. He could go well at a big price.

Leg 4 Selections: Dream Composer, Bernardo O’Reilly, Strong Power

DREAM COMPOSER ran a good race when third on his return at Wolverhampton three weeks ago and could make a bold effort with fitness now assured. BERNARDO O’REILLY won this on his return last year and has been largely consistent in defeat since. Back on his last winning mark, Richard Spencer’s charge should be extremely competitive. STRONG POWER is mostly seen on the all-weather but he is well-handicapped back on the turf and could go well from a tiny weight.

Leg 5 Selections: Flyin’ Solo, First Officer

FLYIN’ SOLO only saw the racecourse once last year but ran well to finish second at Ascot and remains unexposed with more to come. He has an absence to overcome but his trainer knows how to ready one and he is worth plenty of respect. FIRST OFFICER ran very well both times he encountered deep conditions at this course when making the frame in a pair of handicaps, including over course-and-distance. He should be tough to beat under Hollie Doyle with a run under his belt.

Leg 6 Selections: Mohi, Perseverants

MOHI returned to something near his best when runner-up at Kempton last month and was third in a Listed event on his only previous visit here which came on soft ground. There’s every chance he will be thereabouts, while Scott Dixon’s PERSEVERANTS would have claims should he return to the form of his Wolverhampton success. He is open to improvement on the turf and this mark isn’t beyond him based on his French form.
